Yu-Gi-Oh! is just a former shadow of what it used to be. Gone is the mythological backgrounds and instead has emerged comedic antics with childish looking main cards, and a story that is written by five year olds. There just isn't anything of interest to me anymore with the show.
New Yu-Gi-Oh Movie To Star Original Series Characters. Yugi and Kaiba will appear. More details in five days.
I don't even remember what it was, but something last week made me look for Yu-Gi-Oh stuff. Now I'm about to start watching all of Duel Monsters in Japanese, and then jump to Arc-V (though I too question how this can still be a thing since it's just about playing a game now right? Gone are all the crazy Egyptian Pharaoh and God crazyness), and have been playing a little of the game in Ygopro (all those crazy new summons since I last played!) But there's apparently still quite the following for the TCG stateside even, though the anime is nowhere as huge as 2001-ish. Making the movie based on Duel Monsters would hit nostalgia here. But anyway, right now this movie certainly piques my interest
5Ds had a nice story in its first season that dealt with Mayan mythology, but after that was finished, the series dragged on for another 80 something episodes. Honestly, I don't know. The series was great because of its use of Egyptian mythology, the mystery surrounding the Millennium Items and the past, and then Yugi's quest to find Atem's true identity. For me, the series ended with Takahashi ended it. I will say this though, I am kind of tempted to buy the King Arthur Noble Knights set I have been seeing in the store since it comes with an actual legitimate deck.
https://ygorganization.wpengine.com/yu-gi-oh-movie-details/ Starring Kaiba and Yugi, releases 2016, completely original story; more details at Jump Festa 2015 Also, Remaster of Duel Monsters starts airing in Feb 2015.
Funny, I was just watching yugioh abridged on my second tab before I noticed this thread wouldn't mind watching a "remastered" yugioh for nostalgia sake
Doesn't look like it, just remastered. But a "Kai" would be nice, only way we'd ever see a full uncut dub, would be a good Toonami hit too.
Leaked: "Yu-Gi-Oh King" To Take Place After The Original Series. Release Date In Japan Confirmed For 2016. "The film will take place after the original series has ended, which means no Pharoh for you fans out there. It also states that the film will be released in 2016. Which is a bit later then was expected. Although it could be to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the franchise as a whole, not just the anime, as the original yugioh in japan came out in 1996." I'm a little disappointed it'll be in a year. But for the serious fans the anniversaries matter a great deal. The same way Pokemon and Bakugan are still going: because people love to command an army of monstrous beasts, muhahaha!
I can not agree there. I want them to get voice actors that actually sound like the Japanese voices if they were to redub it, and dub it properly. Of course, to be honest, the anime is not what I remember it being. This year I watched the anime and read the manga and there is just way too much altered in the anime that I found it hard to sit through, especially with all of the filler in it. The Memories arc is just an insult in anime form. The best thing about the show is hands down its soundtrack.
This is actually a bitching score: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m0u86cTsjzM Official HD Images From Yu-Gi-Oh King Released. Nice. http://yugiohmovie.jp/ Two hours to go now...
BTW, in case you guys did not hear, it seems like the remaster is just going to be selected Best of episodes.
