Witchblade Series In Development At NBC I remember watching the first TV show. It was okay. To be honest, the Witchblade is a cool concept, but it'll forever be held only be women and thus give them an excuse to run around semi-naked. I don't have a problem with that myself, but it needs to be something like a heirloom passed down to different people over the years (not just women, but men, children, even animals). Anyway, bring on the fanservice!
Hopefully the actress they get this time won't have drug and Alcohol problems. That was one of the reasons the last series was canned.
Ah, what the heck, I'll just put in art! This was a film that was supposed to happen I think, but got shelved. So we're having another TV show, which should help out better. Who knows, it'd be a cool homage to legendary artist Michael Turner if they used his designs.
YAY!!! This is great news! Personally I wanted a movie but a tv show sounds fine too. I hope it can be well done. I can barely remember the old tv pilot. :S All I remember was..a full medieval armor? Meh...I know the Witchblade can form a full armor but that one was pretty generic. Then again, was the..90s? I guess they can make a semi good decent armor this time. As for the "fan service": i read many issues where Sara summons the Witchblade and covers her clothes without ripping them off. xD So it can still work. Oh, please, please, please, make this a good tv show!
Yeah, I liked that series and have on DVD around here somewhere, think I found it for $5!! Love the 'story', wouldn't mind seeing another stab at telling it again.
No- I have no interest in naked men, children or animals. The comic I remember seeing on comic stands was the impossibly hot woman. This show should be animated and ran on... MTV? Showtime?
Didn't the last Witchblade live action series *always* have Sara with full clothes, even when in Witchblade mode? If It's live-action for NBC, American, and 2019, I think the chances for fanservice will be nill.
Hopefully the reboot is just as good. Enjoyed the few issues I read back in the day and even had one of those direct to comic store action figures of her. Though I agree that all things said (live action NBC, American television in 2019) the fan service will be just as absent as it was from the original tv show. Honestly, if you want a version with tons of fan service go check out the anime or manga version of Witchblade... that's some cray shit when it comes to fan service.
The anime was fairly good for any Witchblade fans considering it, and affordable. You can still buy a new copy of the full series Blu-Ray set for under 30 dollars.
I'll admit I enjoyed it, but my wife (who's a huge anime fan) just couldn't get past the fan service... same with DXD. No matter how good the story was it was over the top in the fan service department for her so I've still yet to get around to finishing it.
You'd be happy to know that a male equivalent exists. The other is called Excalibur. They're halves of one weapon.
Not sure if people are aware but the comic had a “reboot” a couple years ago with a much more modern, less fan service like costume (new main character, new creative female led team, new look etc) could see them going that route Witchblade (2017), Vol. 1 TP | Image Comics
I didn't know about that. Yeah, like you said, It's likely they may use this as the core of the show, at the least to promote the current comics. Or use the comic's story and looks but still use Sara Pezzini in name only for a little more diversity points.
