:lolol  This was the funniest trailer for me. I still can't believe people are bitching about the dancing scene, well transfans will be transfans.

    I echo this comment.

Edit: Nevermind, I've just seen Soundpulse's post above.

Well, every single film has to have at least one moment that upsets 'the fans.'

That could be a topic all by itself: 'What was the worst bot-moment in each TF film?'

    I know right?

Stuff like Optimus being goofy and shooting hoops, or that episode with the drunken Decepticons, from G1 get a free pass from them, but Hound dancing? Oh no, that's too silly!

    Bumblebee's pretty smooth.

    Animated Bee would be proud.

PG-13 doesn't mean 13+. It means viewers under 13 should have parental guidance.

This is utterly side-splittingly hysterical coming from you.

it's like that 30th anniversary post from awhile back, where people were complaining about the first Transformers comic.

For some, there is simply no form or feature of Transformers that will make them happy. Sadly, they tend to be very vocal. Personally, almost everything I've seen from this has just amped me for it more and more.

The dancing is not a problem. Not in the least. It's fun and probably does provide a break from the tension within the narrative.

The problem is that in what is ostensibly a 'serious' movie, it is the audience that needs a break from the tension, not necessarily the characters. This is a flaw that so many screenwriters/directors exhibit, it seems that there must be no workable solution.

Except...there was one good, recent example.

The mob meeting scene from The Dark Knight is an illustration of humor that doesn't derail:

Gambol (to Joker): "You think you can steal from us and just walk away?"
    Joker: "Yeah."

Audiences laughed at that. It provided breathing room and a much-needed break in a narrative that was becoming constrictive. Yet there was no actual respite in the tension or drama for the characters involved. Granted, Ledger's nuanced, deadpan delivery helped, but you see where I'm going.

I'm all for character development, and if this dancing scene provides it, great. I'm only concerned that it is a harbinger for what is to come. I mean...how will we react if, as this scene progresses past what we have already seen, Bumblebee starts...'twerking'?

And the thing is, I'm not exactly "amped" for this movie, but everything I've seen is largely positive and makes me think I'll likely enjoy it.

But some people here are just a parody of themselves. Saying that Transformers must be totally serious is absurd. Saying that the robots can't dance or show emotion is absurd. Comparing it to the Dark Knight. (because THAT'S what Transformers is missing, anvil-level subtlety in social commentary and verbally redundant speeches about everything)

    How do you know that?

That's a pretty big assumption. Plenty of movies have serious moments and light-hearted moments. Just about every Speilberg film ever comes to mind in regards to that kind of tone.

The idea that every movie has to be a monotone is stupid, and incorrect.

I just hope too many people don't spoil the movie this time. DOTM had a lot of spoilers and while I still enjoyed the movie I would have preferred not knowing what was coming.

This. I remember seeing the comic adaptation on the movie boards. When I watched the movie, I knew that Sentinel was gonna kill Ironhide right when Sentinel said, "A deal had to be made, etc."
