1) Don't confuse "MMO" (Massive Multiplayer Online) with "MMORPG" (Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game). 2) You're probably looking more at a kid-friendly, browser-based MMO than an actual "go out and buy" PC game. 3) If your expectations are higher than "an action-based kid-friendly Transformers game online" then you're going to be disappointed. Now, I'd love, LOVE, something more serious and intense. But I just don't see it. With Transformers having recaptured the "kid" market, I don't see the fiscal "sense" in creating and marketing a game strictly to an older audience. Because "Transformers" will always feel "kiddy" to non-Transformers diehards, and "Transformers" will always appeal to the kids. Here's to hoping for something that can appeal to all of us
I would have agreed with you without reservation before WFC was released, but so much of that game catered to "what do the ADULT fans want to see?" mentality that what we got was a *very* mature and gritty game. I'm not saying kids don't play and enjoy it, but at no point did I go, "well, that part's for the kids..." If anything, I imagine that if you make a game for the adult fan demographic, it'll draw the "kid" players better than one might expect. You'd be amazed how many 11-year-olds are playing Modern Warfare and love it (in part because they're playing big boy games, sure, but a sale's a sale). When you consider that a "mature" Transformers game has no need to be M-rated, a whole world opens up. After all, Star Wars has the kiddie demo locked up too, and there's nothing "kiddie" about the forthcoming Old Republic MMO. The base is broad enough for it, and I submit Transformers' is, too.
SQUEEEEEEEAAAALLLL!!!!! Yay! that or G1 would have suited me just fine! Wonder how this will all pan out...
It'll be interesting to see what they do with this. Maybe I'll checkout RuneScape to see what we might be in store for. The fact that it's TFP does kind of suggest that Hasbro may be in for the long hall with this series.
Ditto my friend, diiiiitto. And Im not hating on Prime, its ok so far, but they had a real good chance to blend all kinds of generations.
I wonder when the game is coming out?.Also I liked world of warcraft but I pretty much sucked at it,I ended up cancelling my subscription last year. But this game may end up better than wow. Can't wait.
Bingo. If anyone has ever played City of Heroes/Villains in recent years, it is HARD to switch to other MMO's purely b/c of the amount of customization you can do. If they make a game where your character truly has a ton of options to make them look different than everyone else, it'll hook people like me. Well, if gameplay isn't trash......
Not that I'm complaining as I'm actually a fan, but why TF PRIME? Sooooo many other genres of TFs to touch on. Prime barely has any characters. Oh well, it's probably just to promote the show, so I'm guessing once the show is over after the second to third season, the game will have served it's purpose and become as obsolete as the show. Still I'll play for the sheer purpose of killing some time I suppose.
Meh. Not really liking this idea, I'd prefer a range of continuities mixed into one game. At least we know now that Prime is going to span to 2012.
Prime is far and away my favourite continuity, so this is definitely good news for me. I do wonder if it's going to be a f2p or p2p format though.
Not happy its based on Prime. I mean the show is OK by itself but I dont think its strong enough to base something like this on. I'm not a fan of the styling either. Like the Animated designs, they're too manga like and out of proportion. I think this is a mistake. An update on the WFC styling would have been the best compromise. Still, I'll see how it turns out but it will need to be amazing now to get me to play something else other than Battlefield 3 and Skyrim.
Now taking bets that the story will be placed sometime in between WfC and Prime in an attempt to once again unify the two continuities.
