    PFFFFTTTT AHAHAHAHA

Okay but seriously, Bee has been around since the 40\'s? That, uh, that\'s a pretty big retcon pill to swallow.

Sure there were. Haven't you heard what the "defend these terribly thought-out movies at any cost!" fans have said? F-22's... cameros... big rigs... etc... they were all around back then, and that's where the ideas in modern times came from. Conveniently, it just sometimes took 50-100 years to actually execute.

    ;)

Should this be at all surprising? Every sequel winds up retconning the previous films' story in some manner... How many origin retcons are there? How about the Spark being central to Transformer life/existence, yet Galvatron was formed from Megatron's head?

At this point, I'll say Bee was around long enough to inspire the invention of the car itself. Ludicrous? Maybe... but nothing truly is crazy enough for the TF films... I wager.

    Wait and see:

    1) if this stuff (Bee in WWII, etc) is actually in the movie, or if this is just marketing shenanigans.

    2) if it is, if there's an explanation (time/dimensional rifts, yadda yadda)

If it's in there and just hand-waved, *then* we can flip tables over it.

I know most want to pretend it doesn't exist, but Revenge of the Fallen already established that Transformers had been on Earth for a long time besides just the ancient Primes. Not only that our own myths can be used to explain why didn't recognize them as Transformers, Titans, Giants, Nephiliem, Dragons and so on.

The biggest thing that fucks this for me was, if there were giant robots running around all over earth, why did nobody point out that they were made of goddamn metal?

So either we have time travel, or Bee was already on Earth once, left back to Cybertron and came back again, all the while not discovering the Allspark???

Okay, I will accept the idea that the Transformers have been on Earth for centuries longer than anyone thought they were. I'll accept the Seekers.

Logic starts to stretch a little when the Decepticons were revealed to have been active on Earth since the 60s and were behind the space race and the American space program. Since, you know, they could have easily located Megatron, the Allspark, and gone through with The Fallen's plan and been done with Earth long before the Autobots could have had the chance to stop them. And we're never told why they didn't just do that.

Oh, they couldn't track the Allspark because Hoover Dam was blocking the radiation it gives off? That's all well and good, but if they've been active on Earth since WWI, then they should have been able to track it since Hoover Dam wouldn't be built until until the 30s. Oh, maybe the Seekers found it and decided not to contact the Decepticons...I mean, Jetfire defected (his dialogue implying that he wasn't loyal to The Fallen to begin with), the others could have too. It would be a retcon, but hey this timeline is already built on a dozen of them, what can a few more hurt?

Bee was already on Earth, he was searching for the AllSpark and maybe ended up during the WWII. Surely we will have an explanation in the spin-off.

Run time is supposedly shorter than previous films.

Besides, it's difficult to defend the movies against naysayers when you already have this preconceived notion going on in your head about the story. For all we know, these are momentary flashbacks.

Let's uh, you know, see the film before we start playing Peter Panic.

If the bit about Transformers being around since the medieval period are true, how is much of a stretch to assume that they're just giants wearing suits of metal armor?

    Kinda like, you know... knights.

W h y, Hasbro? This has been the only Last Knight news that I haven\'t enjoyed. I won\'t like this portion of the movie, that\'s for sure. I love history, but I HATE this retcon into modern history because it feels like they\'re just haphazardly shoving Cybertronians into EVERYTHING Earth and it\'s kinda losing its\' charm. The knight bits? Sure, fine, mostly because there\'s a precedent for this.

I dunno, shoving Cybertronians into WWII seems almost kinda cheap. I don\'t think, considering that this implies that they\'ve been here a long time, that they would want to get involved with any human war. ://

Bumblebee\'s first time on Earth was hunting for the Allspark a few months before he met Sam. Now it\'s telling us he was already here prior? There\'s a huge hole in the continuity if that\'s the case. Make up you mind about Transformers encounters, Bay!

I don't give two shits about how we have to retcon the Transformers being in WWII....

....JUST BRING ON WWII ALT MODES ALREADY! HOLY SHIT! It's been a long time coming, but if there is even a CHANCE of having some WWII vehicle Transformers toys...

    Holy damn.

I'm ready. I've been ready for this for a long, long time!

I think I sounded quite calm, actually.

But after 4 movies you DO have to set your expectations accordingly.
