Thats awesome. I don't really watch many reviews so I didn't see that early copies had gold paint instead of yellow. Really stoked about that change.

 

Disappointed that Grimlock looks like he'll have that super dark chest piece on the final product.
I get what they were going for in recreating the toy, but this is supposed to BE HIM IN THE MOVIE.
F**king Hasbro, always bungling the concepts and brand boundaries they created.

I'll also be pissed if Takara ends up coming out with better paint versions of these Dinobots too as Gen Selects at a later date.

 

What's the difference between this series and Earthrise?

they seem to have taken over studio series (hopefully temporarily) to further round out a line of tf the movie figures to coincide with Unicron and the aniversary.

I can't tell for sure because I don't have the new one in hand, but looking at Prime vs. Prime's review of this new version of Punch Counterpunch, it appears the shoulders are misassembled the same way the previous version's were.

No, the one "recently" released is a rerelease of a slightly older toy (in the POTP line?)

If Hotrod, Arcee and Kup can get several iterations in a relatively short space of time, then so can this character.

 

Glad I got the PotP version of Punch/CP as the colors & paint are better, but I kinda want that Barricade... x/

 

i dont understand why they wont reveal more bayverse ss figures.... we got 6 g1 and only 3 bayverse and siege/earthrise/kingdom keeps getting dozens of figures like hows that fair to the ss fans

 

Well for one, S/E/K is a trilogy telling a story encompassing an entire era of characters that--as mentioned by others--is having an anniversary coming up. The SS86 line fills in the gaps that S/E/K misses. Honestly, between S/E/K and 86, G1 has pretty much been covered and presented perfectly or close as we've gotten outside of MP and/or 3rd party. A majority of these are going to be hard to top.

Secondly, most of the major onscreen Bayverse characters have been successfully SS'ed, which just leaves the new BBverse and those have definitely been covered. So there's nothing really there to SS from the live-action movies until the new movie comes out and they're still working on the script. So I imagine Hasbro's going heavy on S/E/K and 86 until then. My guess anyways.

 

That "slighty older toy" just came out in 2017. P/CP is not on the same tier as Hot Rod and crew. That's like saying "oh we get a Bumblebee every time so why not a Cosmos? "

 

Not really. These days, new versions of characters seen to be released much closer together than they used to be.
