At first it looked fugly, but now I think I might give it a shot, it could be the nearest thing to being high without being high.
It might be cool, it might suck, but I'll pay $10 to see a real, live Mach 5 in action. One of the greatest fictional cars ever created!
Awesome. It looks better and better each time I see a trailer. I just can't believe how much hate this gets.
QFMFBBQT It's extremely faithful to the cartoon looks. I love that they didn't go for the super serious incarnation, or the super silly. It's looks like a perfect balance of the silly and serious. The "neo" city look fits perfect.
It looks ok, probably not going to rush to the theater to see it. But I still stand by what I first thought when I saw the trailers "an epileptic hurricane of neon colors and blue screen CG"
Saw the trailer last night with 10,000 BC. I laughed out loud with how terrible it looks. Bunch of Vegas lightshows and closeups on the main actors face to not a good trailer make. I, and the better majority of the movie-going crowd, will be passing on this one.
1: They need to make a video game like this ASAP. 2: I'm still miffed that Speed isn't a Japanese guy. 3: This movie looks like it's taking it's self too seriously.
Wow, so you've actually gone across Canada and the United States (not to mention all the other places who get theatre releases around the same time) getting everyone who qualifies as a movie-goer and gotten their opinions on these two trailers? Man, now that's determination. Seriously, no offense to you, I'm not eagerly waiting for this flick either, but saying that the "better part of the movie-going crowd" will be skipping this movie is a little unrealistic.
Maybe. The point wasn't that I had taken a literal poll. The point was that this movie is a joke. Like D_C said, it looks to be taking itself too seriously. If it were a comedy-action type flick, it may do better given that the cartoon was so full of corn and cheese, it almost constitutes its own full meal. To even attempt to make a serious film about it, expecially one that has so many neon lights it doesn't look like Speed Racer at all, is sure folly. Is my opinion founded? No. And even on the off-chance it does manage to be a success, look at the history of films like this: success doesn't mean good.
I have no clue where people are seeing this as a movie that is taking itself too seriously. The entire thing is tongue in cheek. Any seriousness is portrayed completely over the top.
What? You think the cartoony CGI and vehicles, the big retro-60's-sci-fi style city and the bloody chimp is taking itself too seriously?
