I just saw this posted by Anavel over at ToyboxDX.com fourms, CM's corp just showed a prototype of a new Mugen Calibur toy from the anime Dorvack at the Tokyo anime fair. Better known to Transformers fans as Roadbuster of course. Please be aware that; a) No price/release details are known b) It may not even Transform c) CM's corp are not cheap.
It's a CMs Brave Gokin figure. I'd imagine it will be very faithful to the version of the mecha shown in the series, with a lot of extras to represent many of the key abilities etc. I would be quite confident that it will transform, somehow, though a little parts swapping may be required.
Hopefully it (as well as the Battrain & Baldios they showed) will be in the $100-$150 price range like the Patlabors and GoShogun and not the $650+ of their Dancouga Nova....
Yeah, I did notice that it was a BG but I was thrown by the Dannyboy Nova next to it which doesn't appear to be the perfect transform one. This Mugen Calibur also looks like it's a very early stage prototype, arms don't appear to have any articulation for instance. I haven't brought a CM's toy since their early GGG though, I've kinda gone off them a fair bit, hope this will be good enough to make me want to try them again. Given that it's not a complicated combiner I imagien it should transform but I didn't want to explicitly state that in the news post. Also that Dancouag Nova to the right of it has a 8'820yen price tag so it look like they'll be a much more affordable (albeit non combining) version on the market soon. http://www2.moeyo.com/img/08/03/28/4/451.jpg Finally Yamato has even cheaper Dancouag figures planned of both versions http://www2.moeyo.com/img/08/03/28/4/452.jpg
Sweet... if it transforms and it's in the $100 to $150 price range I'll probably bite. Roadbuster was one of my first Transformers as a kid and (even though it's not an official Transformer) a new version of him would be cool. Just add repro Autobot sticker!
I never even knew about Roadbuster untill I discovered the internet and online fandom in general but it is a great design and one I would definitely buy.
Cool. Personally, I'm hoping for a Classics 2.0/Universe update of Roadbuster at some point, but I'm not going to hold my breath for him. It would be easier and cheaper for me to get ahold of, lol.
I love the G1 Roadbuster toy (own 2 MIB) and if the new version has Classics-like articulation and reasonably priced I may just get it.
