If we are getting the 07 Megatron instead of the ROTF, it would be cool if they did a frosted and icy deco. That could push me into getting it while a 20% better paintjob probably won't. I don't expect PF to be a line where we'd get a remolded chest, but I'd be pleasantly surprised if they did!

 

I feel like a “premium finish” Kingdom Galvatron is inevitable at this point.

 

Y... Yes it is? If you look at internal listings for Studio Series (not 86) it's listed as Premier in some computers. Premier is what TLK was. TLK molds have carried over and been reused in SS. The same engineering in TLK is what's being used in SS. They are a precursor to what we have now. It's true, TLK Premier IS Studio Series.

 

Sure, it's a precursor designed with similar standards. But it's a separate line, with a separate name and separate branding and goals.

PotP reused molds from Combiner Wars, and also had all Deluxes and Voyagers be Combiner components just like CW. That doesn't make them the same line.

Stores like Target used the same listing numbers for figures assortments from Siege and Earthrise. That doesn't make them the same line.

Premium Finish is rereleasing figures that were released under the header of "Studio Series." That does not include TLK.

 

Hey, did anyone find out why SS 07 Megatron reused ROTF Megatron's chest or is that still a mystery?

 

Okay, we'll just move on and agree to disagree. Peace.

 

Potential reasons (not confirmed) that I remember reading somewhere before:
- not enough budget for new chest
- chest was part of the mold with ROTF Megatron parts that were reused in SS56 Shockwave, so they chose to reuse the chest as well.

 

Yeah, I’m sure there will be many more redecos of Galvatron in the future, including a more blue toned one without battle damage. Apparently Hasbro is very pleased with the mold.

He isn’t included in the Premium Finish line-up however.
Also, this line focuses on hyper show accuracy for WFC and live action movies specifically. Galvatron’s appearance in Earthrise wasn’t based on the toy, and I don’t know if he’s confirmed to make an appearance in Kingdom. So he wouldn’t be eligible for this particular line.

 

By this same logic, Kingdom is also Combiner Wars because they are both Generations.


That logic is not sound. The Last Knight was it’s own Toyline. If Studio Series was The Last Knight it would say so on the box. Just because it was the following line and retailers were too lazy to properly name some of the earlier listings does not mean they are somehow the same line. Believing requires some mental gymnastics…. I just about can’t fathom.

 

That makes sense, but the use of the word "trilogy" is still an odd choice, as the three Optimuses are all slightly different from one another. Saying it's "the one from the trilogy" feels unhelpful to me, as it doesn't state which movie in the trilogy.

I agree that it'll most likely be a Jetfire-compatible Optimus, but will it be the ROTF Voyager or the DOTM Leader?
Between Magnus and Jetfire there's two Leaders coming, but the rumoured Siege Shockwave could bump it up to two Leaders per toyline (WFC vs SS). So it could be the Optimus with the trailer, or it could not be.

 

Look man. You tell me how you can figure out which exact version of the mold it is from this image and I’ll edit the damn post.


Otherwise, I’ll just use the word Trilogy to denote that it’s the SS Optimus mold used for the trilogy because “which movie” it’s from is kinda impossible to discern.

 

Pffft, it’s obviously Evasion Optimus.

 

I’m really curious about how the supposed SS Evasion Optimus will turn out. It seems like there was a single deco besides Hasbro’s Cookies and Cream that got anywhere close to accurate.

 

When do we get an official reveal of these guys?

 

It says product details will be updated on July 8th, so I believe that’s when they’ll be revealed.
