Yup, I got my confirmation emails for both Protector and Sidearm...right after I chose to ship my Pile of Loot to make sure everything gets here by Christmas (two gifts for my sister are in there too, along with my stuff). Doh. Oh well, he'll come after MP-9 arrives and I'll have a giant batch of Hot Rodimus-ness to fawn over in early February.

What is Fansproject TFX-04C Protector Clear Version? The pics just show a clear box with the same mold from the first set. Is that the case or is it a clear plastic variant? I have little interest in a clear plastic set.

 

It's a clear plastic set to fit with the Sons of Cybertron clear Rodimus.

I found a concept drawing and it got me thinking, got shipped a dark protector kit on accident and think I’m gonna keep it and get sideburn, here’s the drawing I found, would love to see the actual figure like this though

 

I just got protector recently and love it! It’s such a great upgrade

Ha! I'm still rockin' mine to this day! My opinion I know, but ain't found a suitable replacement yet. Call me sentimental but it's been my Hot Rodimus and done. Yeah it sure was bliss back then! Not a care in the world!  

 

Ok yea, that looks fn awesome! Definitely keeping the black upgrade and getting sideburn now, he makes a good nemesis rodimus/unicron corrupted rodimus from an alternate dimension

 

The good old days... I member when Shadow Scythe sold out, and I got in on the Robot Kingdom PreOrder. Immediately jumped on eBay for a SG Rodimus. Fast forward to TFCon last weekend and Shadow Ghost Calidus was leaked a day in advance... Got up 2 hours earlier than I thought I would to secure the purchase. Something about SG Roddy.

We’re the old guys now, and with all this masterpiece stuff out there, I happily hand the realm over to the next generation. The thing to remember is that 3P was always all about the creator-fan immediate interaction; at least to me. The realm really set Hasbro on the right path.

 

To this date I have not replaced City Commander or Protector. They are my CHUG Ultra Magnus and Rodimus Prime

I remember when Vangelus dropped that teaser video, there was a brief moment where we all wondered . . . does he have it . . no way . . . then the camera panned over and BOOM, it was lit. I miss Vangelus doing those types of videos, but i understand they're time consuming

Plus that little piece that let CHUG optimus and Protector shake hands was fucking genius

Man, OG FansProject was just the best. Defender, assaulter . . . i love them. They're irreplaceable to me, for the time they represent and the love that was shown in their design. Defender was one of the first stand-alone 3P releases, and assaulter pushed it ever further featuring more well integrated die-cast. I woulda bought an entire line of FP Warbots, Cup, sandstorm, all the wreckers, and all the f(x) designs were were shown, and every combiner. Argh

Thank god for Cross Dimension, carrying the spirit of FP (or specifically, the design language) forward to the future

I have the dia commander ko, and while it’s good I much prefer my combiner wars ultra Magnus, but the protector set can’t be beat in my opinion

 

The space winnebago mode is still so cool to me.

 

People call City Commander and Protector dated, well I say they are eternal. And the Parallax concept is (still) the most brilliant vision for updated designs in entire 3P. While I wish we had seen more in this line, I find solace in the attitude of 'quality over quantity' attitude towards collecting (which I developed over the years).

Oh and I have the Dr. Wu face w/visor on my Protector which is f*n awesome!

 

So my tfc sideburn came in today, decided to throw on the ko black protector that was shipped to me wrong (was supposed to be the normal one and the seller refuses to pay for return shipping). It looks pretty damn good in my opinion, especially since sideburn only cost me $25, only nitpick is the ko helmet doesn’t stay on as well as the legit one I have
