The rare Canadian G1 red faced Slag was one of my Holy Grails, never managed to get one but will be happy to get this Studio Series version! I have the 3rd party Toyworld Iron Dreg Slag and almost got the Toyworld Diaclone repaint Iron Dreg just to swap that version's red head onto the original, I'm glad I resisted that urge! Would have been an expensive way to kitbash a more cartoon accurate figure!

If the day ever comes that collectors are more of a priority then kids (And I'm not saying it as a negative let me be clear), then I wonder if it means the toy market is just not as appealing to children anymore?

I love this pic as much as Slag would hate the implied request for belly rubs.

Possibly. It'll probably be the death of the toy market, as well.

But are we sure about that? Do we even know if Snarl will get a SS86 release when he's all but absent from the movie?

This looks good. I'm in. Not crazy about the limited articulation on Daniel, but whatever. I see it is a bonus and doesn't take away from the main figure.

I wonder if any 3rd party company would ever do an exo-suit that scales with these? And/or a Wheelie?

Yeah. Love it. He's the team's tank/heavy hitter.

They could always throw him in another line like they did with Cyclonus.

That would be a pretty sad outcome if it ever happens.

That seems to be the plan. Apparently the rumor mill is that it's Swoop next in 86, and Sludge and Snarl coming in one of the lines.

True, but this is Hasbro they wouldn't leave out Snarl even though he wasn't in the movie.

Kids will always like toys. The more important question is how affordable transformers are to parents in general.

And where was Thundercracker in DOTM? Especially using a body that wouldn't be designed until 2 movies later. Just because a character has little to no presence in a movie, that doesn't preclude them from being in Studio Series.

I don’t see HasTak making five all new Leader (well, four & a Voyager for Swoop) figures for characters as popular as the Dinobots and NOT having multiple repaints of them lined up. It’s just a matter of which direction they go in first.

We know that Grimlock has the moulded ‘circuitry’ detailing on his gold parts that would show up if they were clear, so I’d wager toy deco would be the first direction they go in. The only thing is I’d be upset if these releases then get the swords / additional accessories that are missing from the Studio Series ‘86 line, though I would be happy that they’re released at all.

They could even release an expensive five pack of all the Dinobots when every one has been released, they did that with the Bayverse Studio Series Devastator. Honestly I expect the Dinobots in every flavour under the sun!

Agreed. $230 for each in cartoon deco, $250 for a toy deco multipack with swords, $150 for G2 released Dinobots, and $80 for G2 Swoop and Sludge and you got the mold paid off!

I was lucky enough to find one in a random lot on Ebay, seller didn't know what it was!

But it's missing his pricey red launcher. Luckily he didn't have one in the toon so I could live without it. My grail has become a complete G1 Artfire.....

I don't know, that looks a lot more like G1 Prime cosplaying as Cybertron Prime.

So it's more of the case of just trying to appease overly sensitive people to maintain a more child-friendly sense of the brand when outcry really wasn't that bad? Were there ever really any outright Parental Outcries from it?

    Sorry for all the questions.
