And spoiler ordered, care to explain how it connects to the figure? Is it stable?

You can heat the metal pin until you can pull out the wing - the new part is plug and play and is very tight.

    This is so much better.

I truly don't get what's with Hasbro's Classics / TR Hot-Rod style spoilers. They never look nearly as good. The spoiler is a defining part of Rodimus' silhouette. It should be big and pointy, not hiding behind him.

Masterpiece Hot Rod did it mostly right. This custom does it perfectly.

Prob gonna have to get that.

Actually just received the face today. It's pretty great. Question about painting though, is there any prep that needs to be done for the black acrylic? Should I wash it fist?

Yes I'd definitely wash it, and also use sharp blade to remove the studs from below and behind. And I also used a thin layer of primer.

I just got a TR Hot Rod and now I've got my eye on one of these, especially after seeing the mounting point for his joined guns. As for removing the pin that keeps the stock spoiler in place, I've got a soldering iron I can use to heat it. How should I remove it after it's heated up?

Once the metal pinhead is heated sufficiently it softens the red plastic of the car right above it - you just pull the wing up vertically and the whole piece will come out.
