You think the designers (the guys who spent hours upon hours engineering this thing to have so many precise moving parts to be as accurate as possible) get really pissed when they see these shitty official pics?

Absolutely! I can’t believe they don’t have some sort of approval process for the box art from the designers.

Often times discrepancies like that are a result of playing around the panel line breaks and such. People noted that Studio Series Sentinel Prime's call numbers are undersized and in the wrong location, for instance, but to make them movie accurate results in that deco app being split across three or four panels, instead of just the one, and would probably affect how the toy is budgeted as a result.

I haven't put much thought into how Ratchet's panels breakdown, but I note, for instance, that the inaccurate door symbols mean that the symbols are centred within that door panel itself, instead of aligned to the full door, so perhaps that's a concession towards the robot mode's look.

This is all very true. I remember hearing how ridiculously big SS Brawl's head was when it's actually perfectly proportionate to the CGI. Most of us spend way more time looking at the toys then the actual movie (most bots unfortunately didn't get that much screentime and when they were on screen it wasn't always clear, plus how many times can you watch the same movie), so the proportions and details of an inaccurate design can be more recognizable as "correct" to some people.
I would be pissed for sure.
Probably totally different departments. Toy design and graphic design are different specialties (as is photography), and there probably isn't enough communication between divisions. They probably even outsource the photos to a freelancer, and these are VERY complex products compared to even most other collectables. No excuse, cause it's really lame, just an explanation.

His shoulders are large and rather high up compared to the MPM

Wait, how is the MPM more accurate? I’d say both are innacurate in different ways. MPM has the innacurate abs, forearms, thigh wheels, and backpack while the leader has the less accurate shins, backpack, thigh wheels, and forearms

What if he’s not then what ?

Tell that to people in every new toy news first word they type in is mistransformed If I had dollar for every time I see mistransformed in new toy news in one year I be billionaire

I see nothing wrong with it

What if he’s not then what and if he is who cares people will still buy it either way transformed properly or not it’s toy production shot show people what it look like when they buy it.

You go art exhibit museum say that painting is mispainted and painting your looking at is Picasso art.,

It’s photograph on box toy box if you have all other toys in series you still going to buy it mistransformed or not what difference does it make if it could be mistransformed it’s nor end of world

I feel like the shoulders are just smaller than they should be.
It's also that the head may be a bit too small.

Oh no that head is definitely too small.
Also never noticed that Ratchet “holds” his gun in a rather odd angle in the movies. But from that angle, it looks like the shoulders on the MPM are pretty well proportioned (if just kibbly extending backwards) and it does look good. Just some angles make it look like it’s drooping.

That just shows me that the shoulders are positioned just fine on the MPM. The kibble seems to be in the right place as well.

And the MPM is way way more accurate than the leader figure, especially in the place where it counts the most: the kibble and the proportions. Leader figure has very wrong proportions compared to the MPM plus he has a lot more kibble. Things like the shoulder pads not being able to angle, the chest and shoulders being WAY too wide, the feet being huge while the rest of the legs are too thin, the wheels on the thighs being positioned weirdly and being way too big, the massive back kibble, the inaccurate headsculpt....I could go on.

*shrug, scale has never exactly been MPM’s forte. You are correct however.

Of course to be in scale with the MPM cars, the third party options, and the the OSKOs, he’d need to be about 3/4 of an inch taller.
