Again, I personally liked the sequence itself, but the character models were obviously rushed so I don't really care to see them in physical form until they've had a chance at refinement or something.

You're just being obtuse. He obviously thinks the BB designs looked more "toyetic" than the ones presented in the DotM prologue.

 

Starscream is gonna be the movie 1 because they know fans will double dip for the version they wanted. (Worked for Studio Series). Chances are very high the same will be for Ratchet.

 

Well also the tattoos aren’t a favourite look for some. And the cleaner deco works for a ‘07 collection.

 

The general consensus is the scene was great. Considering it's a Bayverse toy thread, you'll be seeing some opinions from Bayverse fans that have an unnecessary hate boner with designs inspired by the source material. They'll try scraping the bottom of the barrel to defend their arguments with things like "G1 bad" or "Bayverse designs are more realistic" when the whole concept of realism is arbitrary in the first place. A robot having a pogo stick for legs isn't any more realistic than a red and blue boxy robot.

I am a G1 fan too, but come on... I am pretty sure an alien robot that moves by hopping around is more plausible than a humanoid red and blue boxy alien bot who happens to have an earth like alt mode on an alien planet.

 

Uh, what? Do you know how much energy would be required to allow a 100 ton robot to jump in the air? It would be incredibly inefficient let alone I'm not even sure if it's possible. It'd be the worst body type to choose. You really don't think aliens could have evolved in the similar way as us? Bipedal organisms like us are result of billions of years of evolution and it's not out of the realm of possibilities evolution followed a similar path on other planets. Plus, you make it sound like they're no humanoid Bots in the Bayverse when there are plenty. Some even have literal human faces—the extent that G1 didn't go to. It's almost like there is no rhyme or reason to the characters designs in the Bayverse. Bay didn't sit there and say "I want this guy to hop around on a pogo stick because it's more realistic". They are the way they are because he thought they looked cool.

 

I think the most "realistic" were the ones with wheel feet. Use even less energy when you don't have to lift your legs to walk.

 

I just want updated figures of designs from my childhood, so far Bayformers is the only one to deliver :/

DoTM Ratchet and RoTF Starscream are going to be easy MPM repaints, I wonder how long it'll take them to do so. Am I the only one who is surprised that we haven't gotten any toy line character decos like Stealth Bumblebee, Nightwatch Prime and Recon Barricade from MPM and Studio Series yet? I know they weren't in the movies but I think it'd make for a cool Bayverse styled selects line.

 

At this rate, the brand will die before it hits the 20th G1 rehash (we're on like 10 at this point) maybe next years Beast Wars figures will revive the brand like they did in the 90's

 

I think Recon barricade has the most chance of being a release as they could write it off as another background decpeticon like Shadow Raider or Thundercracker or the like

 

That and I think Nightwatch is a popular enough redeco of Prime to sell well, and Stealth Bumblebee is a Bumblebee and we all know how much Hasbro loves Bumblebees.

Studio Series Selects when

 

When was the last time they did a Nightwatch? I wouldn't consider it exactly popular. If they're gonna do a black bee, I'd prefer it be his 67 camaro from AoE

 

I meant popular as in "I don't want to pay over $100 for a 13 year old Optimus Prime toy" I'm actually really surprised that we haven't gotten High Octane bee yet since it'd be an easy remold of SS01, in fact I'm surprised we haven't gotten much of AOE at all. Only one Autobot from the film and only one of the four Dinobots is very disappointing TBH. I'd also like a Galvatron at some point too.
