We had this conversation already, just a couple of weeks after the official in hand images arrived or so, given the semi-reflective properties of the real f-22, they are accurate to an specific set of lighting conditions as well as the angle
Long story short, they are accurate to how the paint sometimes reflects the light

I'm not going to have this whole discussion yet again, but a lot of people don't like the deco. Especially compared to the SS version or MPM-1. Even if the F-22 looks like that in very specific lighting conditions it does not look like that most of the time and it's a very poor choice. I just Googled F-22 pics yet again and none of the pictures look like MPM-10. It's just plain nasty. The nose cone and wing edges should be lighter than the rest of the plane. And the thing that bugs me the most is that nasty gold near the rear. Where did that come from? Also the Air Force logos are very difficult to see because they are so faint.

Anyway, I like the figure but I really don't like the plane deco compared to the SS version which was my point. The first time he saw it when I took it out of the packaging, my 8 year old son asked, "Why does the plane look so ugly compared to the smaller (SS) one?". Just like the Top Gun Maverick figure, the deco really kills the plane mode for this figure. Bot mode is spectacular though.

Think of how flat the F-22 jet is, and how large and chunky that robot is. There is no conceivable way for that jet to turn into that robot, unless you scale the robot down. Which also fits with the on screen scale of him being about 31 ft tall. The size of the canopy is the biggest potential hole in my argument, but that too can be explained. On the cgi robot, the canopy is so deep set and buried in the torso, don't you think the canopy could be a lot bigger inside the body, and just that some of it is covered, so it appears smaller?

Mass shifting is also in account. Just look at the vertical fins of the F-22. Those end up on Starscreams' shoulders albeit shrunken in size but retains the same shape. So going by that sunken canopy, those vertical fins should be like half the size of SS's body. An explanation of how a thin airframe like the F-22 could expand into a robot is bits and pieces are broken down and scattered to make a relatively hollow body for Starscream.

But the F-22 is 62 ft long, and Starscream is around 30 ft tall on screen. If mass shifting isn't an issue, then the canopy should simply mass shift smaller to fit the scale shown on screen. In toy form, the only way to make a proper slim jet is to follow what's shown on screen. Big jet, smaller robot. And then cover part of the canopy in bot mode to give the illusion that it's shrunk

So hey, has anyone tried switching the feet yet, since supposedly they were installed incorrectly at the factory? I'm wondering if I should try this weekend.

The feet on mine are reversed according to reports but they work fine as-is. I don't need more ankle tilt than this. That's a pretty wide stance.

Yeah the little circles on the feet are one of the most insignificant details on the thing. Unless it was super easy to do I wouldn’t bother at all.

Does it affect the articulation or transformation? Or does it just look weird?

I have an MP-13B Soundblaster with two of the same thigh. It doesn't look great in bot mode but thankfully all the articulation and transformation joints still work fine.

Ok thanks for clarifying. Doesn’t look different really from the pic but then again I’m viewing it on mobile right now. As long as it doesn’t affect articulation you should be fine.
