No Bicep swivel so not an upgrade to me. I'm not sure I even like how that looks with the butt plate folded up. Just a weirdo I guess

That was fast! I love the paint on the KO, I might pick that up if it isn't oversized.

    How 'bout that?

Must be nice to splurge on things like paint when all the heavy lifting costs have been done for you already.

You should be ok with just your standard Tamiya acrylic paint.

Yeah it’s also wise to avoid spray paints generally on soft pieces as well. I remember it taking months for spray paint it to dry to soft plastic.

So question.... Why does this guy have that weird ass blade anyway? It's not in the first movie from what I could tell.

Finally got the Takara version from Amazon Japan yesterday.

As everyone has already said the kibble and the paint job on the jet is unfortunate but the bot mode is incredible and super stable. I’m really happy that I don’t have to fix any joints at all. He’s perfect with respect to joints.

I’m trying to figure out why some people would have that somewhat common loose shoulder issue. The shoulders have soft ratchets as far as I can tell and they are very stable. No issues holding up the attached weapons. I have not handled the Hasbro release so I’m wondering if those joints are just better on later manufacturing runs or if they actually changed something. I find the Takara releases of the MPMs are often a little better because I believe they are manufactured after the Hasbro run so the factory may have more experience with the figure. The “prime” example is the Takara version of MPM Prime that tabs in fine in truck mode.

I found the transformation to bot mode pretty intuitive considering how complex it is. I was able to transform it without any instructions or videos. I have not attempted going back to jet mode yet. I’m expecting that to be a lot more difficult.

Anyway I love the figure but I’ll be placing the Studio Series version on display with him in alt mode because that jet looks a lot better. It will save me some cash as well.

My Takara release came in yesterday. What a rock solid figure. It's really too bad Ironhide was designed the way he was, because every other release in the line for me has been flawless.

Also just got the Takara one in. Totally solid. And yes, going back to vehicle was definitely more frustrating lol. Biggest issue I had was I think the back thrusters kept wriggling around a little bit while pushing into the fuselage, so the wings couldn't sit flush because the double hinge was sticking out. Took me forever to realize what the heck the problem was and get those hinges settled correctly, but after that he was completely fine.

Edit: Oh now that I have him back in robot mode, let me amend that to "99% solid" lol. That vertical neck joint is loose to the point of being useless. It will sort of hold fully extended, but a little wobble and it's falling right back down. And anything in between fully down and up is a lost cause.

I find it interesting that Hasbro seems to be basing the official MPM figures’ color schemes on the original figures rather than the CG models. Starscream for example is the same beige as the original figure, rather than grey with slight blue tones as in the case of the film and a real life F-22. The same can be seen with barricade, and jazz. Megatron, while not being based on his original figure, does retain the translucent clear bits on his chest that the original figure had. Likewise, ironhide has a blue-ish tint to his grey parts, again mimicking the original ‘07 ironhide toy. This is particularly interesting when one considers that the “premium series” line from the first movie was a direct response to the inaccuracy of the original color schemes.

You’d think that if hasbro is basing these directly off of the ILM files they could get the colors right.
