The same can be said for Harry Potter fans, whom just so happen to make up the majority of Twilight fans. How many HP fans love that series books, but won't read other popular or classic books about magic, witchcraft, or wizards? Quite a lot, but again, like Twilight, the appeal is that series of books and not the genre itself.
Is this kind of generalizing and stereotyping really neccessary? What does it prove and how is it constructive? I'm a fan of the Harry Potter books, as are many of my friends, and we're all adults in our 30's who have been fans of fantasy writing since elementary school. I can't think of anyone of us that really took an interest in Twilight, either. Obviously a lot of people get caught up in hype and will take in interest in a book or a movie becuase it is popular. What does it really matter if they don't expand on that interest to include other books or movies of the same genre? Honestly, who cares? We can pat ourselves on the back all we want for being some kind of 'true fan', but again, who cares? I'll never understand how people can have so much fun being mean.
I would love to get in an argument with someone about that. Twilight's budget was $37 Million, and the gross revenue was $382,133,300. Transformers had a budget of $151 million and a gross revenue of $708,272,592. Where are our tax dollars going?!?
This. My understanding is that neither of them like the characters they play or even the story itself, they're just doing it for the money.
