Bumblebee never failed. Yes, it made a lower amount of money than previous films, generally speaking, but it was still profitable. Moreover, it was profitable because it had a lower budget.

The only film that failed financially was TLK. Honestly, I think the only reason Bumblebee wasn’t cancelled is because it was already too far into production during the failure of TLK, so they had to go through with it.

From Movie News: "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts" Character Descriptions | Ben's World of Transformers:
    "Airazor
Airazor's personality in the film is influenced from the 90's cartoon. She is described as the "heart" of the Maximals and a caregiver by nature. However when necessary she can also be a fierce warrior. Airazor's concept art only showed her beast mode, which had a very interesting aesthetic. Imagine an organic bird, but with some metallic angles to it. However the color and texture suggests rust and wear with a suggestion of organic feathers. Her eyes however were glowing blue revealing her true nature.

    Rhinox
Rhinox's personality is also influenced from his 90's cartoon portrayal. While he is definitely the "muscle" and power house of the Maximals, he is also a mechanic and smart. The concept art showed his beast mode which looks like a giant rhino with segmented parts running from the head to the tail. The middle section of the body appears to have about 3-5 large armor panels running along the body, with seams in between. While the grey coloring suggests metal, it was said the Maximals also have "fur and hide" on them.

    Optimus Primal
The Maximals are said to be ancient creatures and Optimus Primal is one of the oldest. He is wise and the fatherly figure among the Maximals. He takes care of his own and his personality will offer Optimus Prime a kindred spirit to communicate with. To prevent confusion, Optimus Prime is referred to as "Prime" by the production staff so as not to confuse him with Primal.

Optimus Prime's appearance looks very similar to the gorilla concept art from The Last Knight revealed years ago. However, the more Prime-like aspects of the head design have been toned down and the "skin" of the character now is a mixture of fur and metal, calling back to his techno-organic nature."

I really like the Cybertron Beast Planet vibes these guys give off

Like I can imagine Airazors toy on that 2005 packaging with a beast planet key

Looking forward to this even more now

The super metallic Beast Modes kind of take me out of it, but at least they're recognizable in Beast Mode.

It feels like we're missing Rattrap though.

It did not directly Fail, but Hasbro and Paramount
were not so Happy with overall Incoming $
They Expected more $, similar to TLK.
They did not lose any Money, But Incoming $
    related, The Companies were disappointed.
    Multiple Sources say that.

Bumblebee Movie Was (Barely) A Box Office Success

I hope Rise of Beasts will hit at least
800.000.000$, but I have my Doubts.

Knowing Hasbro, everything below 1 Billion
is considered as a "Failure", and another Reboot after this will follow.

I just read the article and nowhere do I see a quote from Paramount or Hasbro that says they were unhappy. Actually, I don't see a quote at all. This is entirely an opinion piece.

Says who? Why would a movie significantly smaller scale and budget, released in December, be expected to pull summer blockbuster numbers?

Okay, so where are those sources?

That all sounds like your own conclusions based on an opinion piece written by a movie critic.
Anyway, here's to hoping ROTB does well at the box office!

Bakish congratulated Paramount for a successful turnaround, using the latest in the Transformers franchise as an example: Bumblebee, he said, is “solidly profitable” while its predecessor in the summer of 2017 lost more than $100 million.

That's a quote from Viacom's CEO, from an industry source; not a content farm for capeshit top 10s.

Its a shame that the colors for Primal on a frikkin' mug are superior to the ones on the expensive CGI model.
