oh ho, so he does have some differences from the previous releases...

makes sense, Hasbro knows it will capture the obsessive/compulsives market if they made changes...might have been nicer to throw in a Skipjack too since there was so much room in the box

I cant speak for canada but here in the US, 5 of the 8 figures are still available at retail. Even at the highest scalper prices, you would still save over $100 bucks on the other 3. I dont think any retail store will sell a $500 Transformers iyem. Thats a loss waiting to happen. And reading the comments on here, it seems the only thing people care about are the new paint apps on Devy's face. I could easily see people buying the set just to swap out their mixmaster and replace it with the old one. They will tell the cashier "my wife thought I was crazy when she saw it cost $500, and I gotta return it or risk a divorce". Then they will happily enjoy their upgraded Mixmaster leaving the next person screwed. Maybe Asian fans have too much honor to do that. But America...go check out the "worst repack jobs" thread and you will see.

I believe you that people will do that. And stores probably won’t stock it. But I feel that it would probably be marketed as one of those holiday must haves like the original Supreme class Devastator. That’s just my opinion, mind you.

Personally, I’ve never seen anything like that happen where I’m from. And I also feel like the fans who do that would be in the minority. Most people have the integrity to know that it’s wrong

Side note but coming back to this, I remember listing for the Prime Breakdown Set being about 80 bucks elsewhere in exchange rates before Hasbro showed the price proper... maybe this is another case of that and the set may just be 250-300 USD and the other price is due to getting it there?

Honestly? The new paint apps aren't great. Long Haul's pretty much ruined in my eyes. What good paint apps you do get just aren't worth it if it costs extra. I'm fine with the mass retail release.

According to TF Source, it\'s supposed to come with an array of accessories and weapons for $499.
I paid for all new Constructicons $311 all together at Target and Walmart just last week.
Many of the figures are on sale now. Overload is for $29.99 for instance.
In my opinion, the extra paint job (not really good) is not worth an additional $188.
I guess we\'ll have to wait for the stores like Target to see the friendlier prices. They are usually lower than online stores.

TFSource is not a good place to quote for prices. [My personal guess is around $200 realistically but do not quote this.]

It was a prototype, the new “pieces” will never be able to transform. It’s there so that the designers can have a size and sculpt go.

Also, it’s not 500 like listings say, it’s around 250. Someone in Hasbro screwed up the info when they sent it to retailers.

Wait. The version from last year's MCM London Comic-Con (and later also at Dutch Comic-Con), which first gave us the separate product code for Devastator that belongs to this box set, featured off-color test shots of Scrapper and Overload.

I don't see any major physical differences there.

Meanwhile, the gray model prototype on display at MCM London Comic-Con 2018 (one year earlier!) was a very early prototype that was not able to transform.

If you end up buying the Devastator box set while having the original version of him, you can have an option to display the Constructicons uncombined along with Devastator. PrimeVsPrime also bought the original Constructions twice.
