Came across this interesting bit of news today.

Universal, Lego in Talks for Film Partnership

Apparently with how the last batch of LEGO movies had done under Warner Bros LEGO seems to now going towards Universal since according to the news it's contract with WB has expired. It'll likely be under a new animation studio but still it's good to see we'll see more LEGO movies one way or another.

I wonder if Universal is neutral enough ground that we could potentially see both WB and Disney characters in the same movie (aside from the surprise Star Wars cameo in the first Lego Movie)?

It’s too bad The Lego Movie 2 was a failure. I really loved the Lego Movies, and to a lesser extent The Lego Batman Movie, for their charm, wit, and themes that were often inverse to what you would expect from a toy-marketing movie.

Looking at the animated features released through Universal...I fear their output will reach for a lower threshold of quality. Granted, it will be coming from a new animation studio so anything is possible I suppose.

Does this mean no more DC Legos? If so, there goes any chance of ever getting a Flash museum.

Also sucks that Universal is going to do the movies from now on.

The DC lego sets themselves will most likely still continue. Just not the movies with them.

Still hoping the LEGO DC Comics straight-to-DVD movies will continue as well.

Times have changed. What worked before won't necessarily happen again.

Yeah, it’s just a one-and-only-one-time thing like the Marvel vs. DC crossover comic book series.
