I was in a local (Longview, TX) Wal-mart during my lunch break today and was passing thru their LONG Easter isle on my way to the other side of the store when I noticed a particular pre-made Easter gift basket that included what looked like a knock-off of the G1 Aerialbot gift set. The packaging wasn't G1 -esque, but the set included what looked like all of the accessories for that combiner team and the robots looked like they were the right colors with reasonably accurate stickers. (They were packaged in their vehicle modes.) I balked at paying the $10 tag on the basket at the time, but I'll get a set tomorrow and post pictures tomorrow night if no one beats me to it. Oh, and if you collect knock-offs and can't find this set locally, send me a PM and I'll see if I can help you out with that. G'night ya'll. Longshot
Yeah, there was a similar, if not the same, set that popped up at Walgreen's a while back. Along with 'G2'/yellow Constructicons and another reasonably accurate Protectobots set whose main difference was a red 'Hot Spot.'
The protectobot knockoffs are pretty decent. I have them displayed instead of the real ones, and I'm happy enough with them not to get the real ones. A little paint and some reprolabels, and they'd be damn near perfect. Same goes for the knockoff Raiden. But yeah, these things have been around forever. Not news at all.
I have the KO Constructicons. Quailty is not great. Almost broke it while combining it. Are the Protectobot KOs better quality than the Constructicons?
It almost feels ironic reading this since this is the first year I hav'nt seen any G1 combiner sets in any Easter baskets for some reason. There's always Big Lots if you don't wanna spend the extra 5$ for candy. Meijers had some organic transforming dinos but they weer pretty ugleee
You should be able to score one off ebay for pretty cheap. The Raiden ko is probably one of the best , if not the best ko G1 combiner that's out IMO Quality wise at least. KO Raiden pics heehee
Could you please elaborate on these (part of Easter basket, in toy section or Easter section, type of dinos, etc)? I'm sure you're right in their ugliness, but I've got a soft spot for organic dino TF's.
they're horrible... I think they're just a set, I saw pics on here just a short while back... they remind me of those lego-type sets for toddlers Andy
while the raiden set is quite good (I have it), I'm going to have to say that the abominus set is the best in terms of quality. while the colors of two of the smaller figs are swapped, as far as I'm concerned you can't tell by holding them that they're knockoffs. the plastic feels EXACTLY as good as originals. I have a taiwanese (at least I bought it from someone in taiwan) dinoking set, with shells, that's obviously not made by takara, as well as sets of road caesar and black shadow. they cost a bit more than regular bootlegs, and came in boxes with "official" artwork and instructions. are these anything more than "black market" bootlegs, i.e. "gray market" or something like the italian gigi g1 or korean sonokong figs?
