To be fair, the battle damage on the US MP Starscream figures is such a minor issue. I removed the streaking on mine in about 1 minute with a damp alcohol cloth. No fuss. Looks great now.

It's also quite variable. I was visiting a friend and he was transforming his pristine MP SS, and I noticed that his had almost NO battle damage at all. It looked almost as clean as mine does after it was wiped down. So obviously the degree of the battle damage depends on how sloppy the factory workers are with the spray gun that day. :)

That last pic of Grimlock looks sooooo cool. Makes him look way bigger too. I'm not a big fan of Classics Grimmy, nor of the surplus of chrome on the Japan release, but those Japanese hobby photographers know to capture a figure, that's for sure. :)

Man, trans-scanning Prime is just begging me to get him. That little bastard has got me wanting a full line (imagine BW figures in this vein that also come with stasis pods).

That's the Takara version of the deluxe-sized Classics Grimlock.

This has probably been mentioned elsewhere, but what are the release dates for the Japanese Classics, Sky Lynx, and those Revoltechs?

Thanks. That's basically what I'm thinking of doing but the wiping away of the scorch marks would remove the panel lining too tho wouldn't it? And weren't there issues with the plastic becoming brittle from the alcohol?

What strength of alcohol did you use?

Very good interview. I love reading about these kind of obscure details about TF's history.

Nice scans. The Revoltechs look great, especially Hot Rod. I like the chrome on Grimlock. Makes him look more G1-ish. Very cool.

As I am stationed on the base in Yokosuka, I went out and picked up a few hobby magazines to see if I could help contribute to the thread. Here are a couple of scans of the Japanese 'Classics', along with some small pictures of the Transcanning Prime, Wonder Festival Arcee, and USA MP Starscream.

I have the ads for the Revoltech Starscream and Rodimus here also, but they've already been attached to this thread. Hope you guys like the scans.

*Brace for impact, I have 'hi-res' scans as well!*

You know, I wonder what Takara has in store for future Classics releases. There's only Jetfire, Ramjet and a few repaints left from the original line. Do you think this means they'll try to fill in the space with the Botcon Seekers? *crosses fingers*

What makes Takara Tomy's version of Walmart Masterpiece Starscream different from our version?

I'm still kinda hoping that Takara will release Classics Cliffjumper. I wouldn't mind a version without grey flames on the side to go with my Alternators.

But I'm more interested to know if they'll pick up the Universe series since I imagine their version of Powerglide would be in his G1 color scheme.

I have both, here are the differences. The points on the verticle stabilizers aren't shortened and rounded like on the Walmart version, their is a Decepticon symbol just in front of the canopy on Tomy's, the streaks on the back are gray instead of black and much less extreme. You can see a gallery here.
