Japan isnt first world ?
For some reason that made me
In any case i hope Hot Rod does become a new Prime and that the Unicron thing is real and Optimus and the Quintessons are trying to stop him waking up or something.
It would all fit in with the 86 movie anniversary, so it could be legit.
Um why does Roddy have a French accent? *lots of pouting*
Wish they'd get someone who loves the franchise to actually write one of these. Pick 4-5 people off these forums and I would bet you, you'd get a better story with more love for the characters.
Depending on the people picked.
I don't. That's almost always a disaster. I'd rather have someone who is a good writer who treats it like a job. When someone approaches something like this from the perspective of having been a fan, they're too precious with it and the writing suffers.
The new correct spelling is:
Maybe. I know some people love these movies and I thought the first one was really good. At this point though, I don't think they could suffer much more but that's my opinion. I'm sure many feel otherwise.
"Mojo, those are my dog's pain pills. CHIHUAHUA!!!"
Hot Rod with a French accent as Bay imagines them to sound.
I imagine it'll sound something like this:
Personally, I think the first was the least strong of the bunch. Yeah, even less strong than RotF.
I want people that understand the franchise. Transformers is wide enough that really passionate people can clash on what parts get homaged. At this point I feel as though I could do either better than Bay (I must stress that I hold Bay as the main factor, because when Kurtzman and Orci are left to their own devices they produced TF Prime).
Wow, that is some of the most racist stuff I ever read on this board. You just said that african americans (jazz) and Japanese people (drift) are not part of the first world, unlike white europeans. Wow.
And we had redneck formers in DOTM with the wreckers all having redneck stereotypes (mullets, beer guts, nascar).
No! The reason Ehren Kruger was chosen was because he was a fan with a heavy knowledge of the lore. And he wrote the worst films of the series. Instead you are always better off getting someone who is good at writing stories regardless of the characters and source. Look at the marvel films, Civil War was nothing like the comic (hell, there are more callbacks to the G1 cartoon in the TF films than there are callback to the Civil War comic in the Civil War film) and yet it was great because the writers turned in a good story.
You do not need someone to understand and love the source material, you need someone who can tell a good and smart story.
It's not a white first world and looking hard for imaginary racism is also a favorite occupation for people who love being offended by everything.
Clearly you also love being offended. :X
Man, I'm almost the opposite of the person looking for things in fiction to be offended by and the Twins and Drifts (and even the Wreckers) blatant stereotyping made me uncomfortable.
The writers of these to date have basically used regional stereotypes as shorthand instead of bothering to actually write characters, I'd be surprised if Hot Rod ends up anything more.
TBH, it isn't making me uncomfortable... But it does give me a chuckle with some degree of double standards displayed online from time to time. A stereotype including race is very likely to be called out loud almost immediately, but an equally unflattering stereotype that is NOT including races other than Caucasian can be as well handwaved as crude comedy. Though probably both types should be avoided.
But yes, depending how much screentime Hot Rod is going to have he may or may not be just a stereotype. This remains to be seen.
I ended up watching the trailer. After seeing the other four films, I felt kind of obligated.
Well, lots of stuff happened. Things blew up, people were sweaty, frenetic action shots and indistinguishable bot scenes... Add two more hours to the trailer and you have the movie.
I think Chihuahua-bot and Haute Rod may be the least troubling things to come.
It's kind of sad, really. I used to enjoy these, but now have no desire to put myself through another round of disappointment.
First one was great as an introduction. Fun, too.
RotF had the forest battle. Loved that, even if the rest was trite.
DotM had Shockwave, which gets default points from me. The rest was bad.
AoE was terrible. I almost couldn't finish watching it.
I have absolutely no hope for TLK.
Oh well. I hope some of the toys are at least okay.
