These 2 are going to be great together.

 

Rodimus looks like a repainted Springer. Sandstorm has more changes done from Springer than Rodimus.

 

I think we all saw this coming though. I remember posts from months ago about members forseeing a Rodimus being made as a repainted Springer.

BUT, it works (IMO). We still get an updated Rodimus with an IDW look --which personally, I love (need him in my Lost Light display). Not to mention, this is a fantastic mold. Springer is one of the best official releases we have seen.

This just opens the door for 3rd party to make some add-ons (a spoiler, and a new head).

they just nailed that Rodimus deco, looks so killer. Purple Whirl on the other hand...

 

Shockwave is a huge pass for me.

 

They needed to do a bit more with Whirlwave, like silver antenna and less two toned purple the same as his two toned blue. He works as Shockwave but doesn't look as distinct as he should and it is very hard not to see a purple Whirl as people allude to (though much easier in Japan I'm sure).

Hot Rod looks nice but doesn't work for me. The line continues to look great but these are all reaches and feel like Fan Club toys.

 

Finished the new episode. I did a guesswork for candidates of next wave.
Autobot: Ultra Magnus. He is on the illust, with TFP mold. Perceptor might work, too. (Brawn dissuades him when Percy says he wants to learn markmanship.)
Decepticon: Deadlock gets a lot of spotlight. So does Astrotrain, but it's unlikely to release another triple changer. There is also Dinobot, but I'm not so sure about him.

 

Rodimus looks very good, but as a straight repaint of Springer I find him a bit lacking. Really wish they had used some parts from Sandstorm (i.e. the roof with the pylons for the big wheels -- those pieces make a decent Rodimus spoiler).

Should I buy him (and it's very tempting), then I will have to remove those pieces from sandstorm to mod Rodimus

Yea, just looking at the silhouettes in the background of that illustration, I'm betting they're going to pull something out of the FOC Grimlock mold for the wave 4 Decepticon. As everyone's been speculating, I'm pretty sure the Ultra Magnus will be the Autobot, as Japanese fans here were all pretty surprised we never got the mold in TF: GO! ( I mean, we got the BH Shockwave, but not UM??! It was kind of whack.)
Although, that said, I'm pretty sick of the FOC Grim mold, and I'm hoping I'm wrong. Firstly, I'm not sure what they would make it into, but seeing some of the stretches here, I wouldn't put it past them to make it into Overkill or even Trypticon (mini version!?). Also, there's an interesting looking silhouette behind Shockwave's claw... Kind of interested in who that might be.

 

Man, Rodimus is BA!  

 

The more I look at Shockwave, the more I like him. Maybe not as traditional G1 Shockwave, but as a version of Shockwave, I actually think it works. I might get it if it goes on super-cheap clearance (like, less than $50).
