That Excellion is one of the best repaints in a long time. I can't wait to get him.

 

Thundercracker just has too much white, but I guess they wanted to go for the "unexpected" route rather than put a lot of black on him. Excellion looks great alone, but I still think if you stand it next to the GF version the colors aren't as sharp. Still gonna get him though.

Meh, just screwing around. I just found that funny. Anyway, it looks ok, it's just interesting that there's no black when Skywarp is pretty much known as "the black and purple guy."

Also, is Hasbro screwing with the people that said he's too much like a really bad version of the Cyberjets with those random G2-esque splotches on the wings?

 

I like excellion, but I wish they made his fins yellow, and that they'd ditch the grey parts.

 

I’ll get Skywarp, mostly because I have almost every other version of him. I just wish the paint scheme had black instead or white. I guess that’ll be my next repaint project.

 

skywarp's paint job had to be all kinds of awesome for me to buy that awful mold again; and while i like it better than thundercracker, it's not all kinds of awesome enough...
excellion isn't bad per se, but i easily prefer hot shot's colors.
marks for effort, though.

 

They are both just different enough to warrant a purchase.
Skywarp will look very nice standing next to TC and both will be placed just in front of GF Starscream on my shelf.
I will consider Excellion a whole other character than the exclusive galaxy force repaint. I designate the latter as Rodimus in my universe. He looks really sweet holding one of the matrices from Big convoy. Try it and see.

I guess I haven't been paying much attention, but I never realized Excellion's weapon and wings were BLUE.

...

I mean, really. Is is THAT HARD to just use, say, Hot Rod's colors for a frickin' Hot Rod HOMAGE? Does the color guy at Hasbro have some sort of coloring Tourette's Syndrome that makes him throw in completely inappropriate, random colors on every mold he touches?

...

So ... any kit-bashers know how practical a wing swap might be?

it's because the wings are on the same sprue as the cockpit, and honestly, since they put the orangey-yellow on the part that sticsup behind his head, i'd rather have the vehicle mode match the blue cockpit than the wings the yellow since there's alread they wing-esque piece sticking up there... i guess it makes Excellion look better with wings un-deployed is waht i'm sayin', but he'll be gettin' Hotshots gun for sure
 

 

Hmmm... the g2 random red bits on Skywarp's wings really hurts the deco. Might have killed it for me.

 

Hot Rod had BLUE windows. Excellion has BLUE windows. Excellions gun and fins are molded with the windows, therefore they are blue. So no, the color guy at Hasbro does not have some sort of coloring Tourette's. He's just using Hot Rod's colours for a Hot Rod homage.

 

Skywarp looks like a kitbash gone wrong.
