I'm throwing in with the "lots of potential--hope it plays out" crowd.

I'll pick it up, as IDW's stuff has generally given me exactly what I want out of TF comics so far.

It'll be a short story I imagine. Just earth getting creamed and destroyed.

Not unless the Decepticons find some kind of use for it, or its oddball primate-inhabitants...

Why would the Decepticons destroy the Earth? It's full of natural resources and potential slaves ready for the picking. I'm picturing something closer to how the Goa'uld handles their world and really, a giant robot with a fusion cannon is a lot more convincing as a god than a human with glowing eyes and deep voice...

they could capture and sedate all the humans and turn earth into a giant energon farm, ala the Matrix.

No Autobots! Hmmmm. OK. I can deal. As long as I see a scene in which The Decepticons begin choosing sides. And then it destroys them from within.

So, is this going to be a "Megatron Takes Over Earth." type of thing?

Dude, what kind of logic is that? We haven't had the end of Devastation yet...

    As of Devastation #4,
the majority of Autobots are off-planet in Earth orbit. [/SPOILERS]

Sounds like it has a lot of potential. I hope it's more about Megatron's cult of personality from the perspective of underlings. I love those all-too-brief moments when you see random grunts' POV.

It does sound intriguing, but after reading "Megatron: Origin," I have some big reservations about reading another Megatron-centric story not written by Simon Furman.

true... but that doesnt quite fit with the whole

"Decepticons have just come to Earth to wreak havoc etc"

Megatron and all of them are already here..why would they need to come to Earth again? :p

i dunno. i managed to peek at a chunk of the script and it does sound very ambiguous. like it could fit in any timeline... which kinda sux IMO. i want more in continuity stories.

but thats just me [from a fans POV]

I hope Shane McCarthy doen't get busted for spilling the beans.

"Oh I'm in Austrailia, so the Americans won't hear about this for a few months" NOT! (Gotta love teh interwebs)

If it's an Alt-timelines thing, I wonder if Decepticons will bother with Earth modes?
Or maybe the first wave (recon) will be in Earth forms (like the movie) but when they find out that Earth's got abundant natural resources and no Autobot interferance they just go balls out and invade. Cybertron forms and all. And it ends up looking like a cross between the Movie forms and The Matrix?

Humans can TRY to resist, but for the most part they should just pick out a nice dog collar and try to look cute in the cage.

"Ooooo! Thundercracker! Can I keep him?"
