I got this yesterday. Finally have something TF-related to hang in the toy room.
The cropping is what is making me hesitate on purchasing the print, aside from not wanting to go to Hobby Lobby. I do really want that Bumblebee wall art.
Same, but no hesitation in not wanting it. The cropping makes it look like a sloppy cut and paste job.
This is great, I love G1 box art! I wish these classic images were sold as official posters at 24" x 36". The '84, '86 Metroplex one, and the Powermaster Optimus Prime/Masterforce ones are among my favorites. I miss the awesome, colorful, dynamic, back-of-the-box battle-scene artwork that once graced Transformers packaging.
I like Hobby Lobby and the cool kitsch & knickknacks they carry along with all the arts & crafts stuff they sell. (There are great, kind-hearted women I've known who work there and offer whatever help they can to find whatever item you need, so I have no political objections to shopping there. If my money helps to pay good people like them, why would I object?)
Of course they have tons of Christmas decorations currently, but they have had other really cool multi-genre collector memorabilia lately. They have all sorts of classic Star Wars wall art now as well as superhero & classic Star Trek stuff for the walls.
My only complaint is that though they're supposed to carry these things, there's no knowing when or how many they'll get, and so this G1 canvas may be as illusive as their G1 Megatron tin wall art. (I really wanted that.)
I wouldn't mind getting it. But their website doesn't presently show it when I search and Hobby Lobby is to far to search without knowing if they have it.
I love the old box art, so if I see one I'll get it.
Interesting, I'll probably stop by HL tomorrow and check it out.
I'd much rather have the actual full posters instead of a cropped collage. You can get the 1986 US art on Ebay via a SpaghettiO's mail-away poster from back in the day. I don't know how you'd get any of the others. Definitely a missed opportunity here that they decided to slice and dice them instead of doing full unaltered posters.
Because your money isn't only going towards paying the workers.
That canvas is utterly stunning.
Hope they make it to the UK!
I like it...
So is Rumble red or blue...?
BTW, you know it's like an Internet law that you can't mention that you a cat and not provide a picture...
Awesome idea but...they cropped all the Decepticons out!
It's supposed to be optimus vs starscream, metroplex against trypticon, scorponok vs fortress maximus, pmop vs the decepticon powermasters and piranacon.
It's enough to be a deal breaker for me.
I'd much rather have a single full-view artwork, than tightly cropped "preview" pics that are missing the best part of the scenes. This actually isn't that good---you see so little of each scene it's more of a teaser than an image.
The only interest I even have in going to Hobby Lobby IS based almost exclusively on their political positions, but having TF stuff certainly doesn't hurt. Like others have said though, not too sure about the cropping, I'll have to see it in person and make a decision.
As far as their politics, eh, MUCH MUCH more hyperbole was made against them than what the business was actually for or against.
This is neat.
somebody fill me in the Hobby Lobby issue like what they do wrong?
We try to stay away from politics for the most part here, but long story short (and as neutrally as possible), they were the central figures in a recent court case against the Affordable Care Act, disputing being forced to pay for insurance that covered procedures the owners considered against their religious beliefs.
Thanks for the heads up rook! I braved the perils of the evil hobby lobby and got myself one.
I don't give one little nugget about the "political" aspect of the store. It's an excellent place with great prices on the supplies I use, plus they carry the brushes and airbrush paints I prefer.
Plus, they're a thousand times better than Michael's and ACMoore.
The ONLY thing I've ever found dis-likable about the place is that they're closed on Sundays.
Anyway, stopped there today while out getting cold medicine (I hate being sick), and they didn't have the print. Loads of other cool posters, but nothing TF-related.
I completely agree. I also picked up a slot car and some extra train track for around the Christmas tree. Hobby Lobby rocks! They also have model rockets. Gotta love those.
speaking of model rockets look up the Shuttle Xpress. I'm waiting for the glue to dry on it right now
EDIT: WTF is political about a f'ing craft store?
Separate names with a comma.
