Even my boyfriend is disappointed that Flametoys took down the image, and he doesn't care about Transformers.

And is also dating a boy.

I hope that it's not the case of them going back on their resolve on releasing it after the first wave of backlash they got. They shouldn't have to bow down to a bunch of d-bags that weren't likely going to buy it anyway and leave the people that do want it behind in the dust.

I am not the market for these model kits. Just not my thing. I also personally find these pinup releases a little cringy. But I was happy that it was seeing release for those that were excited for the design. It’s a shame if it’s no longer being released and rather disgusting to see some fans gloating about denying others a product they had no interest in themselves.

Nah, because Hasbro and Takara have no real control unless they want to start suing 3Ps.

Divorcing the concept from this particular discussion, the gist of toxic internet "cancel culture" frequently involves people being offended by a thing, and then demanding said thing be cancelled/destroyed/removed from existence so as not to further offend their sensibilities, as if it infringes upon their right to go through life without being affected by some perceived slight.

That's what I mean by the "right to not be offended". It's an absurdist concept, and not a basic, inalienable human right. You're not going to be able to go through life without something offending your sensibilities (separate from being personally attacked). It's your duty as a functioning human being to simply move on, instead of lashing out and trying to tear everything down in response. That's self-entitled nonsense, and leads to a downward spiral of anarchy.

It's amazing how far some people will go to find something to get offended about. It must suck to always be so miserable.

And I'm not even a fan of the Windblade design.

It seems like they're still gonna show off the model this weekend, so I doubt it'd be something like, extremely drastic. Probably just like, a remold of the "thong" or a more rounded chestplate as opposed to the more "pointed" one.

Same. I'm only really finding myself growing a little fonder of her design 'cuz this whole thing is making me rethink my opinions on her, and that the whole robo geisha look isn't nearly as bad as I thought it was.

I think maybe a middle ground approach, removing the posterior parts and blunting the chest a little while retaining the rest of the design should be fine . Or just full on Sarah Stone it .

I swear...I will be so disappointed if they totally change how Windblade looks!

She was perfectly fine as she was. :(

I hope that it's just them adding those armfins that brought the whole kimono look in. That and maybe a smiling face or wing mods.
please don't turn her into Potatoblade!

That WOULD be hilarious, but I'd personally like them the way they were. I want windblade for the cool, original design, not for bitties.
    Agreed.
….I have no idea what that means....

For me, it's like this. What's more interesting?
    a) A giant robot that has subtle curves that suggest a feminine figure or form
    or
    b) A generic anime girl with lines suggesting she's vaguely cosplaying as a robot
I'm not offended by this. I just think it's lame.

The complainers are chronically unhappy people. They only derive joy from denying it to others.

They also weren't going to buy the figure anyway, so Flame Toys changing it would be a mistake. These companies need to focus solely on pleasing their customers and ignoring critics who are never going to buy their products regardless of what they do.

That last image of Windblade from the news feed looks like she's tripping on her heel and about to smash her face into the floor.

The cult of the perpetually offended isn't meant to last long. They were built to self-destruct. Companies ought to have the wisdom to not bend the knee to these Twatter cave dwellers because nothing good ever comes out of it.

Had Sandro Botticelli lived today and produced and then shared his Birth of Venus artwork on Twitter, the cult of the perpetually offended would hound on him.
