New Escalation map is just a rehash of Rust o.o

Just wanted to point out, I'm not complaining, this is a simple observation...
If it sounds like I am, it was not intended so, disappointed maybe but not complaining.

Not sure anyone has noticed this or not but I had to share... If you've played any multiplayer online you're familiar with the map Rust. It's set in Iacon, there are two long tunnels on either side of the map with Overshields and it's a great map.

Well after watching the interviews it's abundantly clear that the new Decepticon Escalation map is just Rust with a few energy walls up to let baddies spawn behind and some vendors to buy weapons.

Don't get me wrong, I love the game and I can't wait to play Rust 2.0 but it just seems lazy to use an existing map like this, call it new and try to charge for it...

Here in image 1, you can see Shockwave hovering about Node C looking towards the tunnel on the Decepticon side with the Overshield.

Image 2 is from outside of Node C, to the right. If you look straight on you can see the door leading to the center of the map and on to Nodes A and B.

Really it's not a big deal but in the interviews they make it sound like a whole new map, that's obviously not the case. When Matt Tieger makes comments like "Two of the maps are exclusive to Escalation" kinda irk me a bit. Once again, not trying to bitch but I think it's kinda lame, I will be buying the DLC regardless and I hope my find doesn't sour anyone's opinions but I had to point it out.

It may not bother you that much, but its bothering me now! They just shows High Moon Studios is being completely Lazy. ROTF 1st DLC was twice times better for the same price as for their DLC.

So really in the DLC your paying for 2 NEW multiplayer maps and 2 NEW Characters(Chassis).I don't count the Pre-order characters(cause that's more laziness) and the 2 Escalation Maps are probably both the same as the maps we already have, except dimmed down!

It may be a rehash of rust,But it is new because we have not played Escalation there,Plus it will play differently as in multiplayer there are only like 4 enemys at one time but in escalation there will be lots of enemys.

Also i see no one complaining about how the Decepticon map we have is similar to to part of one of the campaign missions.

It seems like every new thread is another complaint.

well, preorder characters do count as they were probably planned to be as such originally it's just some retailers wanted stuff as incentives.

it doesn't really matter if it's rehashed, i'm just looking forward to playing escalation on different maps

Similar is one thing, a copy and past of an existing map is another. As I said, this wasn't a complaint thread, it is simply pointing out that one of our new maps isn't a new map at all. It's hardly "Exclusive to Escalation" if we've been playing on it since day 1.

This is not a rehash of Rust. It is a section (or appears to be). If anything it resembles the board on the Decepticon campaign where you fight the big Tankbot. Not to mention that the play mechanics are different. People act like they just load up the map, chop a section off, and voila! it's ready. It is not that simple.

I love how people find a way to complain about most anything. The preorder characters are just that... Only available to preorder people, so they are making the content available to everyone via this. ROTF's DLC was essentially G1 skins for Megatron Prime and Starscream. Sunstorm was a recolor. As for the maps, it's probably intelligent to wait and see before whining... I doubt it's a 'dumbed down' multiplayer map, as the logistics involved in the modes are totally different.

Why does it matter that one of the escalation maps is the same as a multiplayer map anyway,Multiplayer is different to Escalation so it will play completely different than Rust in Multiplayer. It is new as we dont have rust in escalation.

No, fire up Rust and compare the images. They're identical other then a few vendors and shield doors.

Even if this is the case, it's still different and also it's going to be interesting to see what strategies are used in this on Escalation.

I agree totally, I was simply pointing out that it's an existing map so people aren't angry when they fire up their "new" level that's all.

I'm sure its more than a section that is copied from Rust, and I'm not whining/trolling, I'm expressing my opinion. Simple. Also, why have pre-order characters if your just gonna shoved them as DLC after release?

Well, that still doesn't excuse anything. In the Interview Matt said "4 All NEW Maps" not 3 new maps and 1 rehased map.I have no problem with rehased stuff, they just shouldn't be misleading people.

not only will this remake of rust play different than multiplayer but it will also play different than other escalation. there are times called 'blackouts" where u won't be able to spend any credits. so no buying ammo, guns, health, or opening new areas. this map will really make u rely on teamwork. so this is "new" enough for me.

map info taken from a vid on x box live

No doubt it'll be fun, I'd like to try Escalation on every map if I could.

I disagree entirely. It was one of the most poorly implemented DLCs I've ever seen, with no attempt to balance anything leading to 90% of matches post-release becoming Jazz Wars. Padded out with reskins nobody wanted like Stealth Bumblebee.
High Moon is doing one thing right by making DLC buyers and non-buyers able to play together without cutting an already small community in half.
ROTF crippled itself with DLC, High Moon is using on-disc content to show off the characters to other players, hopefully boosting sales.

The only place they could slip up is on the Multiplayer maps, another playlist is a very bad idea right now. All non-deathmatch games should really be lumped into an Objective game playlist, as Conquest and Team Deathmatch are the only modes actually being played.

Looks like someone should've played Long Haul. He eats Jazzes for breakfast, no sweat.
