Maybe they just copy-pasted the template from fellow Voyager Grimlock, who also claims to have 18 steps?

I don't know that this in necessarily the wrong image. Argos appear to be buying their Premier Editions in solid case (hence the deluxes they have are Bumblebee, Sqweeks and Drift but none of the other wave 1 and 2 figures), so them having no Grimlock doesn't point to them having both wave 1 voyagers. Furthermore, if you enter the catalogue number for the Optimus figure, you get an error, so it's not listed in their system yet. Therefore it could well be an Argos exclusive that's due out later.

Drift's correctly named on the online listing, incidentally.

Perhaps they just did it to save the budget for figures like Megatron?

Stupid, right. Though I suppose just reusing the original mould gives them even more of an excuse to not paint it properly.

Im not sure that's how it works. If it did they would've given Voyager Optimus and some of the other vehicle formers a better paint job while just moulding the Dinobots in one solid colour.

That Prime looks exactly like the movie Prime....from 2007! They could at least try to remold it a little to match his newer(shittier) look.

That's my point, though. Theres no budget being saved because the alterations are already years old. They could just use armour knight with the original head and arms if it's really about the parts count. There's no retooling needed, hence no budget concerns. Unless that extra few parts is just so expensive to actually mould for some reason but that seems a little ridiculous given the age of the mould itself and the fact that it's a Leader figure already being charged quite a bit for.

You mean 2011, because that's DOTM Prime.

And technically it's not even accurate to DOTM Prime, as it has the extra space-y details sculpted on for maximum space explorative abilities.

    I see your point now.
Don't forget that cool blue and red cano on his chest and down the topside of the truck, to help him blend in with the blue and redness of space!(I actually think it's awesome.)

I think it's both laziness and what-the-fuckness. Laziness because they decided not to improve the toy when they could have and it's what-the-fuckness because they're charging more for a figure we got 3 years ago. All they really did was add flames to the chest and the inside of the legs and that's really it. The TLK Voyager Optimus is much better looking and even he is missing some paint apps.

Ah, it was the catalogue's name error that was pointed out earlier.

@Nevermore have we got the product code/assortment details off the back of any of the Argos bought deluxes/Voyagers yet to determine for sure if they're solid cased?

Both my Drift and Sqweeks have the product code and assortment code that we know already. They do have individual EAN's though, though my Barricade and Berserker from TRU also have different EAN's.

But in the Argos catalogue and online all they have is Grimlock, Bumblebee, Drift and Sqweeks. That's a lot of missing figures if they're buying in the usual mixed cases.

I wonder if this was something that might have been planned for AOE but was canceled at one point, and then someone just got sent the wrong images. I hope it isn't, as I want it. But I keep thinking about it.

My thing is though, why go through a whole lot of trouble to make a new render of an existing figure only if it not going to be used and they meant to actually show TLK Optimus?

I bought Titans Return Voyager Optimus Prime and Megatron from Amazon Germany. Both were allegedly from solid cases, both came in European packaging, both had individual EAN barcodes (which is the new standard for 2017, as Galva Prime correctly points out), but one of them had a sticker with a solid case product code over the printed barcode label, despite the actual EAN barcode still being the same. The other one had no such sticker.

But that's just it, they didn't have to do anything. All the retools exist, all they had to do was pick the right one. No need to pay for any retooling.

It's not laziness because what they did required the same effort as what they should've done. Nothings being conserved in just picking option a instead of option b.
