The new hip design certainly allows for better range of movement over the previous design. As for the Alt mode, the image seems pretty straight forward with the upper legs completely visible and while they may not present a completely flat and seemless face in alt mode, how many of us are actually gonna have him sitting around as a tape deck anyway? Unless you're gonna own two of them, maybe...
    Their Blaster possibly?

Actually I'm hoping that it will be a while before we get preorders. So far this year I have shelled out for United Stepper, Neckbreaker, Mad Blender and Hegemon. With Valentines Day coming up and then Transformers Prime toys, my wallet needs a breather.

Amazing. Personally I would prefer a cleaner animation accurate look but it's fantastic. The only hard part is trying to decide if I should buy one or continue to wait for an official Soundwave Masterpiece that may never eventuate.

Wow...2012 is the year for 3rd party products! Shockwave, Soundwave, Megatron, Devastator, Fallen....and correct me if I'm wrong. There's 2 different manufacturers for Shockwave right?

And.... bought on sight. =) I wasn't expecting them to make updated versions of the Cassettecons. Really hope they come out great to match MP not-Soundwave! So far their not-Laserbeak looks promising!

Looks amazing. Just can't believe it has to be a third party outfit to do something like this. Am definitely looking forward to seeing how the finalized product turns out.

This looks fantastic! How much longer is Hasbro/Takara-Tomy going to sit back and let these guys get all the money?

I think it's great that there are people willing to do what Hasbro/Takara-Tomy can't or won't, but we're talking about their IPs. Are all these 3rd party folks in China?

Anyway, how much is this thing going to cost anyway?

If HasTak isn't going to do squat about Hercules, I doubt they'll go after these guys either seeing how it's been confirmed there is and will never be an official MP Soundwave (at least his G1 tapedeck alt mode) in the works, or ever (so there are no issues of stolen mold engineering). Besides, FansToys is in China, like a majority of 3Ps.

:lol  can you still purchase real cassettes? I can't even find those relics in Japan's version of a dollar store.
Still I wonder. At some point, they’re going to have to say enough enough, no? I’d gladly give my money to Hasbro or Takara-Tomy when they start making the stuff I want, but until then I guess I’m a 3P guy.

Wonder if this guy can still fit and hold G1 Cassettes in his chest cavity like the prototype could. I bought some MISB Big Mission Encore reissues and the Crazy Devy add-on sets with the belief that no one would ever give us truly updated (and accurate unlike the BTS versions) Cassettecons that retained their G1 alt modes and proportions to the originals. XD Glad to see FT prove me wrong in that regard; looks outstanding thus far!

    HELL. YES.

Size was the one thing that could've kept me away from this beauty, but it's perfect.

I like that the word "play" appears to be molded directly onto his crotch-button. No sticker will do, Soundwave has a dick tattoo. Because he is fucking metal.

EDIT: And now I notice my pal Truenomadskies pointed that out before me. Good show, sir.

Those tapes do not look regular tape sized at all! They appear to be same size as old g1 micro cassette tapes

That is correct. No idea how the full-sized tape thing got started, it's never been anything but the size of g1 micro casettes.

I would have like something different than just an articulated G1 toy, but then what else could Soundwave be? They chose to go the MP Grimlock route and I think it's fine. Can't wait for the release. 2012 is going to be crazy!
