Yep completely agree here, that is the version I'd love to won.   

 

Alright, my mind has been set, I'm more than likely buying this. The only thing that would stop me is if Takara were to pull a fast one & reveal their own MP Soundwave & say it would be ready in a year or less...and it would have to look better than this...but I'd say it'll be REALLY hard to top this figure.

I also like that coloring best. Ugh, this really needs to hurry up & be released! But if pre-orders should be up by next month, maybe we'll see this by June...I sure hope so.

 

This. MP Prime looks much better for replacing show white with grey, and I can't help but feel Soundwave would benefit from similar, maybe even his toy silver.

 

Not sure if it's just an issue with monitors or something, but that digibash that we're all referring to already has off-white almost light grey coloring. In fact, it's probably as spot-on as it's going to get. Any lighter or any darker on those areas would just start to look wrong.

I always mentally compensate for proto grey shining through on a photoshop job, so wrongly assumed the slight tinge I saw was unintended and was intended to be pure white.

As for darker making it look wrong I suppose it depends on where you're coming from.

If you want cartoon exact, then yes, but if you want a Masterpiece I'd say no, as Masterpieces always take liberties with cartoon accuracy when it comes to colour, including replacing white with grey or incorporating toy colours.
Which is why I want to see both darker and silver.

I'm not saying they WILL be better than white or even off white, but they have been on other Masterpieces, so I think it's only fair they explore all possibilities to know for sure they're getting the best from the mold.

 

Exactly. There's nothing wrong with wanting to see different color combinations on a few prototypes. That's what I want to see as well. The white looks good but I want to see a light grey. They did it with both MP Optimus Primes and it turned out great.

 

You're right, it might be the screen because on my iPhone that looks straight up white. Lol. If that digibash we're all referring to were of a higher quality then I would have made it my new wallpaper for my phone

Yeah, I don't think we can be too slavish to the cartoon - after all, they simplified the designs greatly. MP-type stuff should be a mix of accuracy and realism.

A difficult balance, no doubt, but I think the guys on Fanstoys are doing a bang-up job so far.

I do like the slightly darker blue, myself.

Yeah silvery grey is generally used to represent parts that were white on the toon. Which comes full circle because the toon's 'white' was usually representing silver/chromed areas of the G1 toys.

I also think MPs look better with a more metallic finish all round, rather than the slavishly literal matt colours occasionally seen on 'toon colour' customs. So I would much rather silver arms than white. But again, it's no deal breaker, since that's something I could always do myself anyway if needed.

 

It would be interesting if this Soundwave was made in a G1 Cartoon color, a toy color and the eventual Soundblaster (or did I get that inverted) black color. If they did more than one repaint, I'd probably get both. I prefer the G1 Cartoon colors, but I did have the toy as a kid, and I love that scheme as well.

Either way they decide to release it, we're getting an MP Soundwave. That is badass!

Haven't ruled out repaints, but there's another project between SW and blaster that's going to blow your head off

But it is awesome to hear that Blaster is still a go. If SW comes out with no QC issues then I think anything Fanstoys puts out will blow my mind away.

Well I only say Shockwave because they mentioned Shockwave at the beginning. To be honest just knowing they have something between Sw and Blaster is exciting enough for me.

Question, would you be eluding to Cassettecons? I know they have a box set of those slated for some point. It would make sense for it to come between SW and Blaster.

If I had to read you statement and take it literally I would guess a Headmaster, but as you said, "don't read too much in to it"
