After seeing the video review last night of MP-13 while it was up (i saw 95% of it while it was up then it was down), I'd SOO buy this too if it were to come out. While MP-13 looks cool (and its on preorder and i'm happy we are getting an official one), the alt mode's back is ridiculously kibbly! i wonder if his sample was missing a cover or something. the G1 altmode is far superior actually. The legs can't move back at all (not sure if acoustic wave's could or not either though), and the legs just look too plain and not toy like enough (way too cartoon simplified which i guess is hat they went for but the or original toy had a nice distinctive leg shape). FT-s versions (both the firsrt and second prototype) seemed superior in some ways.

Even though I have MP Soundwave on preorder, I would still buy this mold as Soundblaster. It's a definite incentive not to have two of the same mold, despite Soundblaster being an upgraded Soundwave.

I'd much rather display two different molds than the same mold twice. Just make sure the tapes are cross-compatible, and you have yourselves another release. Beat Takara to the punch.

IF they made this guy, who would carry it? I don't even think CP would carry him.

Put me down as another vote for a scaled down voyager sized-version of this!

I don't care that he wouldn't fit cassettes.

I actually think it would be lame of FT to try and 'beat Takara to the punch' with Soundblaster. The point of 3rd Party is supposed to be giving us figures HasTak won't do, or at the very least, won't do right/accurate. Now if they want to do it in classics scale, then they're at least giving us something HasTak isn't.

I don't know... Another MP Soundwave made by a third party and being offered while the official one is still in stock/production? That's a big financial risk. And a risk of getting a nasty gram from Hasbro.

I agree, I would still buy this in MP or Voyager scale.

I would love a voyager size version of this.

I would be down for a Voyager sized Acoustic Wave. Especially if there's going to be a Voyager Quake Wave. And it doesn't bother me if he doesn't have transformable tapes.

Personally I would have preferred if the MP line had been made to scale with the main line figures like Classics and Generations. I think it would have been more fun to integrate them seamlessly into our existing collections rather than have to clear a shelf just for our Masterpieces.

Months later, I'm still of the opinion that this should be released.

As others noted, the only way of this thing still making any sense is if it was shrunk down to Deluxe or Voyager size for the Classics-verse line. Beyond that, outside the whole 4 orders they'd get from whiny HasTak critics, they'll be absolutely annihilated by the MUCH superior official MP Soundwave... in all its exposed batteries and non-back bending legs glory.

no offense meant here, but if you want masterpiece to be placed into the classics shelves, then why not just commission a customizer to articulate a G1 toy for you???

I'm wondering how feasible it would be for them to release this once the MP-13 mold has been exhausted. iGear released their tweaked version of the MP-03 mold before MP-11's arrival and that was apparently successful. Of course, it might take a few years for MP-13 to be exhausted. Off the top of my head, I can only think of two other designations for it (Soundblaster and Shattered Glass), so the redeco potential is limited in comparison to the seeker mold.

If I wanted a custom I'm pretty confident I could make it myself. But I collect TOYS. I want my Transformers to be made in factories like the ones from when I was a kid. I like knowing they can be handled without fear of glued parts snapping off or paint chipping around its joints. I also feel better knowing they can be replaced if something goes wrong, unlike a one of a kind piece of art. I enjoy the feeling of opening a box and taking out a new mint toy.

This isn't a slam against customs by any means. I think the work the guys do on these boards is AMAZING. It's just not for me.
