I'm leaning towards Botcon exclusives as well. The homages are VERY obscure, though it would be neat to see some former Japan exclusives (RM Lioconvoy, BW2 Galvatron) see release in the US, I'll wait until I see some solid info one way or the other before getting too excited.

But as repaints, if they were commercially available, I'd buy them

To be fair, NM, the Galvatron tag comes from the seller. I haven't really seen anyone running around the thread claiming, "OMG ITZ A KLONE OF TEH BWTOO GLAVATRON!"

He does? I've not heard reports of his drill or dragon feet breaking.

*is now worried about his BW2 Galvy*

Hmm...repaints of the two worst LOC figures. I think on purchase of these is enough, same as their larger counterparts.. Lio Convoy looks good until its transformed and you can so tell it has no resemblance to the real toy.

Just because the idiot seller thinks it's Galvatron doesn't mean it is, he's got no idea it's Trypticon obviously.

As for the Botcon thing... I really, REALLY do not see these as Botcon toys. Look at what we're already getting, the box set with Primal, Dinobot, Rattrap, Rhinox, and Cheetor. Look at the test shots for Megatron, Waspinator, Laserbeak, Buzzsaw, Tigatron, this is a stacked Botcon as it is without throwing two more figures into the mix. I'd prefer to see these as part of an LoC Classics like where they could incorperate more japan-only and obscure characters

If (I say IF - I don't claim this as fact!) these are indeed showroom giveaways, they'll be independent from the other ones. Mind you - last year's boxset, the Arcee repaint freebie, the Ratchet/Arcee repaint two-pack and the Virulent Clones were all done at Fun Publications' request, whereas Ramjet, just like SDCC Skywarp, was entirely Hasbro's doing and just a freebie for attending the showroom.

So it's not like Fun Publications would have to go for broke to make these available as freebies - Hasbro would be doing it as a showroom freebie. FP would not have to pay for it.

In other words: FP pay Hasbro for the boxset, some additional at-show exclusive packs and an attendance freebie. They will get back the costs for the boxset from the attendance fees, and the at-show packs by selling them to attendants. They will only give away the attendance freebie for free. Hence, Hasbro get fully paid for all of them, and FP would only have to pay for the attendance bonus freebie without getting the money back (except for the leftovers they're going to sell after the show).

If "Lio Convoy" and "Trypticon" are indeed freebies for showroom attendants, FP will not have to pay for them. Hasbro will give them away for free. Presumably they got enough money from FP for the other exclusives so they can afford this expense in return.

    To sum it up:
BotCon attendance freebie (posisbly Waspinator) - giveaway from FP
Hasbro Showroom attendance freebies (possibly "Lio Convoy" and "Trypticon") - giveaways from Hasbro.

    Can anyone back this up?

People are guessing that these will be freebies given out by the Hasbro team at BotCon, not FP-sold exclusives. As in LoC Ramjet last year (plus LoC Skywarp at SDCC).

As far as numbers, there were 12 FP toys plus Hasbro's Ramjet last year. So it's still well within possibility.

    EDIT: D'oh. Nevermore'd!

Interesting and obscure. I'm leaning more towards Botcon freebies ... and IIRC Ramjet last year didn't have a name attached, so Hasbro wouldn't need to trademark the names Lioconvoy or Gigastorm ... or reapply for Trypticon's trademark if that name has been lost.

If they are in fact Botcon exclusives, I will find a way to make that Lio Convoy mine.

If they are "Classics" LOCs with a mass release, I'll get both.
And if in fact they are mass-release Classics LOCs, does that mean that the LOC line might continue? I'd die of a joygasm if we got LOC versions of the new Classics molds. Tiny toys rock, HasTak has been on the money with the sculpting/engineering, and one can never have too many minis for shelf displays with huge combiners. Bring on new mold LOCs! (he says with no evidence whatsoever). :)

    Weird.
The Lio Convoy paintjob on LB looks kinda neat, but damn does the LOC Scourge mold suck ass. I kinda doubt I'd get either of them.

At least they should change the head of "LioBreaker Convoy" as I call him.

If these are Hasbro showroom freebies, I am SO filling out a booth survey!

(and by doing so, coming to grips once again with how much I actually spend on TFs)

Leo Prime, hell of an official name. Fireflight's interesting, and Perceptor is kinda weird. Can't tell if he has the cannon still or not. I wonder if it was inspired by the full sized kitbash from a while back?
