Any chance we might pin this somewhere? Because this question will likely come up a lot in the following months.

Looks great. The robot mode is amazing. The alt modes are impressive...not perfect, but the fact that they're as successfull as they are considering it's integrating two convincing alt modes into a deluxe size figure is quite an acheivement.

It's aesthetically very similar to the Starscream we saw at Botcon, so this is certainly going to be part of the Classics/Neo G1/whatever line. Can't wait to see more.

Optimus (with and without trailer), Megatron, Soundwave, Jetfire, Starscream, Bumblebee, Hot Rod, Grimlock, and at least two others that haven't been named yet.

i think the bullet train fits better with the shuttle mode these days, after all how many steam engines do you see these days? when orig astrotrain was designed in the 70s/80s there were still a fair few about.
not perfect in either alt mode, but still very cool, all depends on what colours we get

I wonder if IDW will use this mold as model reference for their comics?

Otherwise, the mold is very cool! And I hope the colours are cartoon-accurate.

im not too worried, after seeing the wwi jetfire and thundercracker i think hasbro is on the right track with astrotrain (no pun intended) and will do good with the rest, i went to school with Eric Seibenaller one of the TF designers, and he always had some awsome ideas and designes, i also remember him watching transformers the movie when we had time to work in the labs so he was a tf fan before he went to work.

That is a very techincally accomplished deluxe, which is what should happen when you have a smaller line.

Props to them for only changing one aspect of it away from it's roots and actually making it work better by doing so. Being a bullet train makes more sense (if such a concept applys) and works into the shuttle mode much more smoothly then a locomotive would.

Working the train nose back into the shuttle mode as booster tanks (or whatever) is really damn clever & my only critiscism is that they couldn't make those mid wheels fold down to make the shuttle more streamlined.

All in all it's a beautifull looking toy and @ $15 it's going to be a must have.
Just like the rest of the line....

I think this looks very promising. It's exactly what they seemed to promise for the "neo g1" line. As said many times in the thread, for a deluxe that's really, really well done. I can't wait to see the other molds.

Well, there were a lot in China, eastern Europe, and
parts of Africa, and a few in France & Germany in the
early '70s, but a steam engine was definitely a strange
choice of altmode for a futuristic robot, even in
1982. I still would like to see a modern train that isn't
a bullet train, which we have had a number of; possibly
like Universe Swindle or one of the freight engines
from Raiden. Like I said, though, they'd be hard to
    make a space shuttle from.
