The Knightverse and the WFC machinima series are separate continuities as far as we know
... why was this bumped?
I was confused at first but then I saw it came from Josh Cooley's Twitter. Nothing related to the development of the movie but it's nice to see the director posting Transformers related material.
for crying out loud...
I got excited for a moment there, until I realized it was nothing...
Yeah, me too.
This was so worth the bump.
Is the prequel still happening?
Probably is, but you usually don’t hear from animated projects like this for well over a year. They always go dark for longer since unlike live action stuff, no on sight filming and whatnot. Just a lot of animating behind closed doors.
I want to start dreaming... but I still want to see a promotional image so I can do it.
I really have high expectation for this.
Didn't we already know this?
I mean... thats not news? I'm glad we got confirmation and all but there was nothing saying he left in the first place.
Really? The thread was bumped just for this?
I mean, it's good to hear that it's still happening in a world where the movie industry is in shambles.
Just asking is this movie set in the Bumblebee universe or is it its own universe? Kinda like how the Batman is separate from the DCEU ?
No one is for sure yet, but common thought is that it will be in the Bee universe and that Hasbro is trying the interconnected movies thing again
According to one of the sites that announced the project, it's going to be a separate timeline. Although the same site had also claimed the new Star Wars show (an upcoming female-lead one) was also going to be set in a new timeline. A few days ago it was clarified that the Star Wars show will just be set in a different era. So it's probably safe to assume they could have made the same mistake with the Transformers movie. You have to keep in mind these news writers are journalists, probably not experts on these fictional worlds and timelines. I trust them to give us the big picture, but I'm always a bit skeptical of the details. I mean, they call it a prequel, but it's not really a prequel if it's set in a new timeline. That's already a big discrepancy that should raise some red flags.
My guess (purely my own speculation) is that it will be similar to Bumblebee's relationship to the Bay movies (and even the Bay movies relationships to each other). There will probably be some connections to the other movies (enough that the average Joe will assume it's a prequel), but it will probably also have some big continuity liberties. Fan will be debating it's place in continuity for years. I don't think these storytellers really care about having a tight Marvel-esque continuity, I think they just want a fun series of popcorn movies that loosely tie into each other. It's important to consider that even the early "Bay Cut" of Bumblebee had some continuity problems with the '07 film (like no Allspark in Sector 7 and a different design for Megatron). Continuity has never been a priority for this series, and doing a "hard reboot" doesn't seem to be a priority either.
