Magic Square and I think Mech Planet/Hot Soldiers are making their own versions of the Datsun brothers.

Magic Square has a Prowl, Smokescreen, and Blue Streak on the way.

MechPlanet Hot Soldiers has a Prowl coming but no indication that the others are yet.

NewAge has released their Prowl with multiple other versions coming. Streak, Bluestreak, Barricade, Smokescreen.

wait, what? Magic Square will have a Datsun Bros too? i think the only pics i've seen are the heads - which judging from it are only teasers, unlike the MechPlanet one where it's the whole painted figure of Prowl (that split rear window turns me off)

perfect example of why an amount of extra patience is needed when you are in this business of collecting 3P figures. you'll never know who, and when a new iteration of the figure you just bought, or pre-ordered (in my case), will come out.

    While very true.......

I've pre-ordered both the ms set and maverick...

And will probably pick up what ever other smokescreen come out.

I'm actually more upset I missed out on the iron factory set. Ended up getting that new bluestreak they're releasing just so I have a version of that mold.

Well, @RedEG6 already graciously quoted me for the answer, but to summarise:

    - blue/silver = ciaclone version, shown on G1 box (art + product shots) and likely inspiration for the name (and thereby his character/abilities: very fast and talking a lot)
    - silver/black = diaclone version, the deco used in the cartoon and comics. Also reissued in Japan (e-hobby) as Anime (=cartoon) streak.
    - all silver = G1 toy (and thus sold in a box in the 80's that showed the blue diaclone version). Also reissued by Hasbro as Silverstreak (while Japan used their Original name Streak).

    Also existing:
    - all chrome = diaclone special version and also reissued through e-hobby
    - flat grey = Mexican version

    The real question is

Black Rain = Black Rain the movie

    Murphy = Robocop?

They are all different versions of Bluestreak

    All Chrome: Ehobby
All Chrome and Blue: Diaclone/Shatter glass
    Normal Colors: G1 cartoon.

Newage seem to be steeped in pop culture.

Manero (Jazz) = Tony Manero from Saturday Night Fever?
    Harry (Prowl) = Dirty Harry?
McCoy (Ironhide) = Bones from Star Trek?
Flipper (Bumblebee) = the dolphin? Heaven forbid!
Gremling (Goldbug) = remove the G at the end, and it's self-explanatory
    King Kong Cosmos (Cosmo)
Kitt (blue Bluestreak) = sounds like Knight Rider
    Maverick (Smokescreen) = Top Gun?

no idea who Miller (Ratchet) is though

New Age is the only one putting their arm wheels in the correct places, it seems.

Someone had figured out their Ratchet and Ironhide are named after an emergency vehicle manufacturer.

I mean yeah but at the same time, MS still only has those renders and I can't seem to figure out where the front wheels go to begin with. There's still a chance that the wheels will be in proper spots.

ah...so it wasn't Bones McCoy all along. i did find it weird that Ironhide, and not Ratchet, would be named after the Enterprise's chief medical officer
