I've seen this image for a long while now. Is it still pending a release or did you just find the pics?


edit* OK I clicked the link and the pics are the pics I saw over a year ago. I would guess that this project got cancelled with the heavy rumours of MP Ultra Magus coming.

 

I was flipping through Planet Iacon albums , and found this album.

I dunno if it is cancelled either but the pics are old and there has been zero new info in over a year.

 

Why Igear is not making an Ultramagnus armor for their white PP01? It's easier to design than a whole bot and they could get a lot of money reselling an existing mold.

 

I like the look of the Fansproject but in order to truly be classified as a transformer it should be able to at least possess articultion of a human. Being a robot and plastic I think it should have olympic gymnastic level of poseability. Come on 3rd parties step up your energon consumption or go home.   Yes please any new ultra magnus is welcome as long as it destroys all previous magnuses before it.

I've seen many proposed 3rd party Magni since City Commander came out. There was one by the KO Toys people, an MP Magnus that really didn't take off, and other proposals like this one.

The reason these ideas never go anywhere is that Fansproject nailed it the first time. The head may be anime-inspired and the trailer BFG may be a cheat - but it's a perfect update and homage. The only way to "beat" it is to appeal to the hardcore collectors with a pure G1 look. Unfortunately - the G1 toy was a shitty design and direct homages wind up being as gangly and awkward as this one.

 

To me, as a reader of the uk comic, which informed all my preferences and visions of what characters should look like, this looks excellent.

Magnus always was a bit awkward. He was always struggling to cope with his burden of responsibility and his status as Prime's probable successor. He was obviously incredibly powerful but always doubted himself.

He just couldn't deal with it!
