I liked the Hero Masher concept. It was totally out of my collecting range, but the designers put a lot of work and love into the concept and it showed.

I'm guessing, maybe these figures are gonna be similar in build and quality to the ROTB mainline stuff. Simplified figures that can transform into good (or at least acceptable) alternate modes. Or these are probably Legends scale transforming figures.

I personally liked the Hero Mashers toyline, but I never liked the Transformers figures they did in that toyline. The Hero Mashers concept was quite cool for the Marvel stuff, I liked the black-and-gold Iron Man figure, was really fun.

And Hero Mashers crossed brands. The goal there was you could have Marvel with Star Wars and Transformers.

If they follow a similar modular approach but stick within TF it'd likely allow for some level of transformation.

I see nemesis prime and I get excited

also seriously surprised hasbro has not repainted armada optimus for nemesis prime as a gen select
would totally buy him especially if it keeps the trailer for supermode

I feel like it’ll be one of these two gimmicks for sure, but probably not both. Some kind of down-the-middle combination seems more likely to me than the old Megatron-Skywarp thing. “Swap” really suggests interchangeability between sets.

People shit on "gimmick" toys, but then that's all G1 was. Powermasters, Targetmasters, Headmasters, Pretenders, Triggercons, Firecons, Scramble City....

Some of the biggest complaints are newer toys NOT re-creating their original gimmicks (loudest of all being Unicron Trilogy fans).

Power Rangers ran 30 years on a rotating series of "gimmicks" and Sentai is approaching its 50th.

Posts bemoaning modern kids toys give off big Principal Skinner energy.

well, the second one's actually good lol
I have a feeling he'll come someday, but I doubt they'll include the trailer since a) we've never gotten a Commander in Selects and removing the trailer makes him a Voyager (or Leader, idk since I don't own the figure) and b) Nemesis never had a Super Mode in the show, his OG toy never came with a trailer, and I believe we only see him with it in the show for one scene

Yes, but those worked and didn't compromise the figures that much lol

Meanwhile, nowadays we have stuff like Crash Combiners, the Scout Class Cyberverse figures that barely transform, etc

Older fans at the time shat all over Armada and Energon because of how many figures had blocky transformations or weird bot modes to accommodate the Minicons. (Scavenger does not have legs, sir.)

Shit, older fans shat all over Beast Wars for being animals when they had some of the best articulation at the time.

Have you *looked* at some of the old G1 toys lately?

Crash Combiners were one part of RiD 2015 that also included multiple waves of traditional figures at the Warrior price point.

Cyberverse? Same thing. Simpler gimmicks while also offering more traditional figures at Warrior and Deluxe, while also offering a blending of the two at the higher price points.

It's exactly the same as back during G1, except HasTak have done a better job defining a clear line between their different age offerings.

Yes, such crap that an entire generation of kids grew up longing for more of them...with the line still going 40 years later.

Sorry little kids like Transformer toys. But you'll be okay. It's possible you're growing out of it. It happens.

jeez I think you entirely misinterpreted what I said. I honestly don’t care if Swapticons are garbage or not, I literally don’t care.

Yes, that's why the G1 toys weren't all that good. They were just a bunch of gimmicky bricks.

Oh yeah, I look at them all the time lol

But observe Windsweeper, a guy with flip-out cannons, little articulation, but who still has a solid alt-mode...

...versus Cyberverse Scout Class Ratchet, who has a similar feature (wrench instead of guns) and, uh, well, see for yourself:

For the record, I don't have a vendetta or anything against Cyberverse; I actually love the show and toyline and the Scouts are kinda funny lol

I'm just using it as an example (for obvious reasons)

Well yeah, if you compare apples to oranges you're going to have stuff like that.

Now compare Windsweeper to Cyberverse and Earthspark Warriors. Or even the Cyberverse armor guys.

I'm sad they cancelled RED before making Transmutate and Autobot X.

Sadly those two were likely never gonna happen. Even though they should have been in the first two waves
