It'll probably be on par with the gimmick lines they pair with shows these days (still a weird choice) but you never know.

I feel like some form of modular figures is the most likely situation. We're now six years in to them as a regular part of the Generations lineup, and typically Hasbro has let gimmicks bleed between the main and media/younger lines.

A subline that focuses on that without having to also adhere to the current expectations of scale/accuracy would let kids enjoy the play pattern while still giving them a number of more high profile characters (Cheetor, Prime, Megatron, Bee, etc...)

I very nearly posted a few weeks ago to expect a Clench as I had gotten a cheap Toxitron to repurpose as him.

So unless this blows, you're welcome.

For some reason with this my mind goes to something like Energon Powerlinx combinations, with maybe the ability to swap out who each figure can be combined with.

If this indeed what the gimmick is, Hasbro is going to be getting double purchases for me, so I can display both.

    I'm disappointed in advance.

We really haven't seen any noteworthy new gimmicks from Hasbro in ages. The mask RotB TFs were neat, but nothing to write home about. The All-Spark energy cube figures failed hard, despite the interesting premise. The "smash change" figures are pretty meh...

All I can hope for is that this gimmick works as intended: selling kids TF toys. Cause I doubt it's meant for older fans.

The modular guys have had a consistent presence for 6 years.

One-Steps have been present in various forms throughout the media lines since 2007.

The last two series (Cyberverse and Earthspark) have included a BAF with the first wave of Deluxe toys.

Hell, "scale and screen accurate" is itself a gimmick. As demonstrated by how Generations/Studio do it but Cyberverse, Earthspark, and the RotB mainline did not.

One other possibility, given the similarities in alt modes between the two characters that make up each figure....these are some kind of "inside-out" transformation.

    upload_2024-4-5_23-17-59.png

We've already had toys like Micro Machines, RPM, Stealth Force, etc that didn't feature robot modes but still kept the character names attached.

So something like this is possible if they want to further expand in to the "toy car" aisle now that they've started breaking through.

Yep, it's actually a rather smart strategy, on Hasbro's part. Two characters from one toy will appeal to kids and parents by providing good value, while collectors will want to double dip to display both at the same time.

Yeah, it'd be pretty left-field, but as others have pointed out, most of the combos are characters who look similar, so it definitely seems like the intention is to easily make one character into another. But time will tell.

Yeah it's been a lite year for me as well and have indulged, sometimes guiltily, back into comic figures in the meantime. It's fun but I know I might regret not saving my money for the Onslaught that is coming....pun intended.

    I expect nothing from these.
I'm prepared to be disappointed anyway.

I'm thinking that there just going to redo the micromaster combiner gimmick.

Most of the pairs have very similar alt-modes, so I think it could just be a single toy, with extra parts (or rotating parts) that swap out to change a bulk of the colour & any unique details (like heads and kibble).

I'm surprised we haven't got a Pyro/Sentinel Prime listing because both are airport fire trucks.

Clench has my interest but cause it's a gimmick line I will prob pass.

The parings other than Grimlock/ Snarl share an alt mode so could just be a head swap or part switch thing going on......or a punch/counterpunch kinda thing who knows.
