You've just finished watching a film and you enjoyed/hated it, but there is a nagging sense of frustrating because the film forgot or intentionally left unanswered a plot line or a character said something interesting but was never resolved or expanded upon. Note that these are note plot holes.

For me it's Aliens, ever since I saw it at the age of 8, I always wondered what were the other alien race mentioned in the film, the Arcturians. If you don' know what I'm talking about (most do, even hardcore Alien fans), They are mentioned just before the knife scene with Bishop and Hudson where Frost and Spunkmeyer can be clearly heared talking to each other:

I've always wondered what these Arcturians are? The best I've ever found are that they are some sort of humanoid from the Arcturus star system. They've never appeared or mentioned in any other Alien films, comic, games, novel, slash fiction. How or why has anyone never brought them up again considering this is a franchise that builds plots on tiny references and one off line. There another alien race for Engineer's Sake!

What unanswered plot lines and unexplained concepts annoy you? Which do you want answers for?

I always wondered what happened to the Mountain Dew Bot and XBot from Transformers. In fact, it always bugged me that a few Transformers who survived previous movies don't show up in the next one. The Twins, Jolt, and the third member of Arcee come to mind.

 

What the hell happend to Arachnid?

 

I tend not to care much about sideplots being incomplete or never being resolved. I'll overlook that stuff if the main plot is solid. If the main plot never finishes, like Prometheus, well...

What are the consequences of being selected for, but chickening out of the Tri-Wizard Tournament? I know the Goblet of Fire was rigged and all so it would select Harry's name, but what are the consequences of not competing? They say it's a binding contract. But what would happen if he broke it by not competing? Would it kill him? Would it gruesomely disfigure his face? Would it de-pants him every five minutes? Would it de-pants him, disfigure his face, and then kill him?

I watched Black Swan recently.

I would've liked a better explanation/clarification to the whole movie by the end other than: 'She's obviously just fucking nuts'.

I was kinda hoping it would be revealed at the end that she was actually her own pushy mother in a mental institute reliving her crazy-brain younger life as a psycho ballerina.

 

Is this thread only for movies or can we talk about shows as well? Cause I have these nagging thoughts about Lost and Supernatural.

 

heh, LOST. Yeah, there's a laundry list of never explained or finished plot lines.

 

It's not really a plot line, but it really bugs me in the 2004 version of Dawn of the Dead that you never see the characters enforce the glass parts of the mall.

In the original version the mall is built with 1970 standard construction, so it's mostly concrete and some glass.
But you see the characters drive trucks and stuff up to the glass areas to prevent the zombies from breaking in.

In the 2004 version the mall is built with modern construction standards so there are huge exterior sections that are all glass.
You never see the characters do anything to fortify those areas.
They don't even talk about it.

In the DVD commentary Zack Snyder says he figures the viewers just "knew they did something".
I love the movie, but that part really bugs me.
