Yes please! Lol. Damned hoarders are sucking us regular customers dry. Even the sandpaper TP is being bought up. People are freaking nuts!
I know, I picked up a CJ for @ProtectronPrime this morning, now I'm thinking I should demand payment in TP, or as I told him "the new gold standard."
Haha truer words have never been spoken. It’s so sad. It’s not like TP is gonna prevent the disease, yet antibacterial soap is still fairly common. Prioritization is outta whack these days. A 30 pack of shit tickets ain’t gonna keep you safe
Welp, Sisolak just decided to shut down every non-essential thing ever, so going outside for anything but shopping for food and supplies is verboten after midnight tonight. That said, during some essential non-toilet-paper related shopping, I found that Fort Apache's Wal Mart is finally getting Earthrise figures. They have a Prime, A-Train, and Ironworks. On the SS front, there's a jet mode shatter and offroad Bee. Get 'em before they issue the Martial Law order and they rename the state "Thunderdome".
Are you sure there was no toilet-paper related shopping going on during your run? I can't wait to hear the new state song "Home means Thunderdome to me!"
I’m struggling to see what the difference between tonight’s “declaration” and the last 2 weeks is. isn’t this just an extension of what has already been directed? The only thing I heard new was that he activated the National Guard as well for resource assistance and extra bodies to assist with homeless centers, construction of medical camps, etc. they’re not going to be on patrol or stopping people who are out “grocery shopping”. Now, besides toilet paper (still dumbfounded by that!), stores have been rarely stocking toy sections since they’re main focus has been other parts of the store. Let’s face it, toys are low priority for them. Other than Micromasters and Battlemasters, I’ve resorted to getting everything (Transformers related) online lately. It just hasn’t been worth the hassle or the risk to be honest. I miss the excitement of finding stuff in stores, but for the foreseeable future, this is the new norm.
It's a little different. The current directive specifically prohibits any non-essential activity outside the house. Hiking, walking, etc. is still ok, but is subject to guidelines established by the Fed. You can find all our directives here: Emergency Orders 2020 In short, the initial directive was more of a suggestion. Now it's being enforced, specifically in light of the mass exodus to Red Rock and Mt. Charleston, where many scofflaws are running amok and not abiding by the COVID-19 guidelines. They're actually stopping people in my neighborhood, specifically if they're operating cars with out of state plates.
Wow, Metro is actually enforcing it? That actually surprises me a bit. I read the order, and it said it was strongly encouraged but it was still a bit grey over whether it would be legally enforced. This sucks, but I’m personally glad for it. I actually think the Governor has done a really good job so far trying to curb the outbreak here much quicker than many places around the US. We could easily be NY right now, but he acted when this was still relatively small. I know economically people hate it, but as he first said when shutting the state down, his primary focus is on saving lives.
Yeah. The latest directive is Directive 10, which states: "With limited exceptions identified below, all Nevadans are ordered to stay in their residences. Gatherings of individuals outside the home is prohibited, subject to the same exceptions." It's now up to local municipal governments to enforce that order, subject to the limited exceptions. In short, it's no longer an advisory. Given my experience with Metro, they are probably now cherry picking to scare the bulk of the people that would normally ignore the directive. It's a mixed blessing. Metro can be kinda... biased, let's say, depending on the individual officer. However, between them and the forest rangers who I've actually seen cruising near the Red Rock loop and other off-reserve trails pulling people aside, I think there'll finally be a big stop to the type of shenanigans so prevalent in California and Florida. That said, I agree with you that Sisolak's done a pretty great job. I have friends that work in health insurance and they noted that most of the COVID-19 health insurance claims are coming from casino workers, so his move to shut it down no matter the cost was a definite life-saving maneuver, not just for Nevada but the rest of the US and the world given our primary industry and reputation.
Oh totally agreed with Metro! Forest Rangers I’m not too surprised. Red Rock, Kyle Canyon and Lake Mead all shut down last week because of the influx they were seeing; they couldn’t keep up. So it makes sense that the rangers would be stopping people. This is definitely the most bizarre experience I’ve lived through (knock on wood). It’s really strange watching how different people react to it and times, pretty scary. I’ve got a prime candidate living in my household so I’m all for an over abundance of caution. It gets nerve wracking. Hopefully we all make it through safely and can look back on this one day sooner rather than later.
The only experience I can think of that I have had was when Mt. Saint Helens erupted in Washington state back in 1980. At the time I was 8 years old and was living in Yakima Washington, which is about 85 miles from the mountain and was in the direct path of the ash cloud. that morning my mom told me to go outside and play. I felt the earthquake, and because it had been on the news I went inside and told my mom I thought maybe it had erupted. She told me to stop the nonsense and go back outside. A few minutes later she came out and was screaming for me to get back inside and by that point, you could see the ash cloud in the sky. About half an hour later it was pitch black as the ash clouds blocked the sun completely, and it was dark for at least 2-3 days if I remember correctly. Nothing but dark and occasional lightning from the static electricity of the ash in the clouds. You had to stay inside and could not go anywhere because the ash was light and any attempts to drive caused basically a dust storm and decreased visibility to zero. I think we were trapped in the house for about a week before we attempted to leave" we had to turn back after a mile or so due to the ash billowing around the car. It was weeks before you could really travel about fairly easily and get supplies, and even then you had to wear masks to avoid breathing in the ash for at least a month or more. I do recall making volcanoes out of ash piles with a little water (turned into something like concrete) and sticking a firecracker in them to simulate an eruption during the 4th of July, so by then I think it was mostly clear. For what it's worth, even though I was young, I remember the ash falling quite a cleary. It wasn't like you see in the movies where it almost looks like snowflakes. It was like sand falling out of the sky.
That’s crazy man. My grandparents lived within eye sight of Mt. St. Helens. We actually have a jar of ash from that. It happened just a couple months before I was born, so I wasn’t there for it, but I’m quite familiar with what happened. I can’t even imagine what it was like for you being that close. I can see why you’re using that as a comparison. Glad you guys made it through.
small world. From our house at the time we could see all three of the major volcanoes in Washington. We had a good view of the eruption until the ash cloud blocked everything out.
Of course, to keep this thread on topic, I saw a lone SS Shockwave at the North Decatur Walmart while picking up allergy meds this morning for my wife who posted her latest article at Top 10 Starscream Toys by Hasbro and Takara - Part One, #10-6 (shameless plug)
Lol didn’t even catch that on my proof read! I certainly feel like an ash! It’s not far from accurate though haha. What are the odds we’d all have ties to something like that?!? Small world indeed. And all this just goes to show, no matter how strong mankind gets, mother nature can bitch slap us at any time. And yeah, sorry for driving this all off topic. With no real sightings lately and all the social distancing, its easy for conversations to veer off track quickly, especially when there’s common ground.
No worries at all. I only included an on topic post so no one would complain about our discussion We’ll all have to grab lunch together when this is over and discuss viruses and volcanoes.
Found only the Netflix transformers deluxes at the Walmart on Eastern/Serene. Left behind the Decepitcon Mirage, Hound and Sideswipe. Good luck on the hunt
