I did acquire the galaxy optimus at Walmart on n Decatur and 215. They had starscream and wave 2 deluxes as well as lazerbeak cassette 2 pack. This was last week though. They still had g1 prime too. The reissues are way too expensive for what they are >_>

Yeah. On a lark, I checked the price point adjusted for inflation. The original G1 prime retailed for $20.99 in 1984. That's equivalent to $51.35 today. However, the Walmart re-releases lack the trailer. The only reasoning I can think of behind the 50+ dollar price tag is: 1) banking on nostalgia; 2) increased materials/production costs that make the figure comparatively more expensive to produce.

The weird thing is you can easily find encores online for $39.00 that have the trailer, too. There's basically zero reason for a collector to buy this Prime unless you're a completionist. I guess Walmart figured there's enough casual nostalgic interest in a 35 year old (frankly kinda bad) mold/design that someone is willing to plunk $55 dollars on a lark. That's not really an "impulse buy" price point - which might be why we see so many infesting the shelves.

So funny story (not really) ... I was out shopping this morning with my nephew (2 yrs old - babysitting for the day to give mom and dad some time off) and managed to find 3 Refraktors! After stalking Amazon’s preorder clusterfu-disaster for the last month with no luck, I was super excited! Finally snagged my most anticipated Seige figures

Now for the “not really” part. While in the kids clothing section looking for some suitable swim gear for little man for later today, he unfortunately drops his sippy cup which cracks and spills everywhere. While cleaning up (because I’m not a douche), I look up just in time to see some asshole grabbing my Refraktors from my cart and bolt.

Apparently we have some real piles of trash in our community! And the best part is that the store wouldn’t do shit about it because “since I hadn’t purchased it yet, it wasn’t my personal property and open to whoever”. Needless to say, I’m extremely pissed off today (pardon the language use!)

Right?!? I’ve seen some shady stuff before, but I’ve never had that happen. I’m still blown away by that. Like who does that?!? They’re freaking toys man!

Edit: Oh, on a side note, Spring Mtn/Rainbow Walmart still had Red Alert if you’re after him (that’s where this took place).

Thanks. I'm really only looking for a single Brunt out of the new crop. So if I spot any Reflectors or anyone else, I'll post it here as I'm not picking them up.

You're not kidding. I once had a guy angrily accuse me of "stealing" a Boba Fett he had jammed into a pile of baby toys a few days ago while he saved up money to buy it during my hunt for age-appropriate plastic dinosaurs for my 2 year old. It was so insane all I could do was walk off.

    This town is frequently disgusting.

Couldn’t agree with you more sir. While most of us here are fairly decent folks, the masses of the city outweigh that on a regular basis. I’ve noticed it getting worse and worse as the years go along. Sad really. I miss general human decency.

2 springers on the shelf at the Walmart on Eastern/Serene. This was at 3:00pm. I would have picked one up but I have one coming in this weekend from HasbroPulse.com. Nothing else new at the store. If anyone spots and refractors, please post. Many Thanks. Good luck.

I haven't seen any yet at the Walmart or Target near me. The one Walmart has 15 Chromias though if anyone needs one of those. Not sure why they have so many of her.

Wow Bubbah, that's an awful story. That's up there in terms of small scale twatwaffle behavior I've seen/heard of. Not just in collecting, but just life in general. I've always thought it generally understood that you don't fuck with the contents of somebody else's shopping cart at the store. Just wow....

The target in Henderson on sunset has a galaxy Optimus if anybody wants him. Easy pass at that price for me.

Thats what I always thought too. Took a while before my jaw came off the floor in disbelief. I’ve seen jokes about it on tv but never actually known it to really happen lol. Still haven’t seen any replacements of them. Missed them on Pulse by about 5 minutes and have had a trio in my cart on Amazon 7 times now only to checkout and be told it’s gone. I’m about cave and spend the extra few bucks on TCP just to finally be done with it. Luckily my Ecto-1 and Jetfire came in today - gorgeous figures!

Save the money - at some point, they will be available. I'm personally passing on him, so if I find some while looking for Brunt, I'll stash them and let you know where.
