Thats G1 in a nutshell. 70% of G1 was filler.
Im thinking that if the reason Bee and Arcee/Elita dont transform is because they didnt have cad files available then they shouldnt have been used. We had no shortage of toy charecters from siege that could have been used and cut out those 3 and boost chromias usage. So much of the logic behind this show is baffling. Who did we get new in Earthrise? Doubledealer and Quint? They couldn't even make this show properly tie into the current toyline

    Just saw Earthrise.
    This serie is getting bad.
Were they saving cost of Siege?
There was no Arcee and no Ironhide in Siege.
And now suddenly they show up.
    It's like G1 s2 all over again.
They show up without any explanation.
At least if they had them in Siege, then we understand that they were there.
I think there were more characters just showing up. These 2 are the ones i can remember the easiest.
I bet Ultra Magnus will suddenly be alive on earth in Kingdom. While here we see his head on a table on Cybertron.

    Also massshifting is happening again.
Why is Wheeljack smaller then Arcee?
They should be same size or half head smaller.
But they made Wheeljack into Bumblebee size.

And Megatron talking in slowmotion, i'm getting sick of it.
    Probably to fill up time.

Alpha trion is in the show but we don't get a toy of him.

Also lots of parts we have to fill it in with our own mind.
No explanation or anything and the next scene is about something else. And the last scene don't continue.

I will watch Kingdom when it's here.
But i can say this, I'm not enjoying this serie as much as i thought i would.
Just finish it quick, since netflix wants to save cost.

Arcee and Ironhide were in Siege though.

Earthrise is 5/10. The story constantly makes me wonder, what the hell just happened? At least Energon had story, and you know how much I hate that show.

My biggest nitpick upon a single viewing of Earthrise was that Galvy and Lynx were only in one episode and were essentially macguffins for that episode.

I tried my best to enjoy Earthrise, I went back and watched Siege after watching it to refresh, then watched Earthrise again and honestly it's just abysmal. The voice acting and direction were somehow even worse this season, the only decent ones being Bee and Megatron, and of course a stellar performance again from Todaro's Starscream. The plot was awful, every Autobot that isn't Optimus, Bee, or the fembots sounds lifeless and exactly the same, save Jetfire who still sounds like a 70 year old smoker. It's just plain bad. At least Siege was fun at some points.

That's exactly why. Using the toy CAD files wasn't an artistic take to bring the toys alive or whatever they made up. They had to use the CAD files to stay within budget. I'm convinced the show had the same budget as the Machinima series and the reason WFC looks slightly better is due to them not having to model new designs (aside from a few who aren't even rigged to transform) and instead using that budget for the animation (which honestly still looks drab and boring to me).
They were in there. Though, honestly, I don't remember when Arcee showed up and you probably forgot Ironhide was even in it as he doesn't sound anything like him.

So dont use them. The show is suppose to be fucking transformers. And thats on hasbro if they demanded Bee is in it but didnt have a cad file available. Bee is their cash cow and he is ONLY in the walmart line of repaints. Fucks sake if that makes any sense. If you want to rerelease something in kingdom, thats a FAR better pick than arcee or wheeljack

So something that just occurred to me about Kingdom, given how this story's going, is that one of the big moments in it is suddenly very obvious once you think a bit about it and the toyline. I'm sure plenty guessed it by Siege even so I doubt this is new:

The allspark's gonna grant life to the Ark at some point in Kingdom's climax and turn the tides against the Decepticons/Predacons/Unicron/Whoever.

No, it isn’t. They could’ve easily made up a Cybertronian alt mode for him, not like he should logically have a VW mode nor is his robot mode even accurate to that toy.

It is pure and simple laziness that the characters don’t transform. A complete lack of artistic integrity.

Does anyone know how long RoosterTeeth’s contract with Hasbro is?

If I remember correctly, once Kingdom releases, they’ll have done 2 complete Transformers series. And both, of course, have so far been overall metric ass. I’ve already decided that the POTP trilogy is significantly better than this. I’m sorry. At least it’s entertaining, and I’m not just slugging through it because I got cursed to be a Transformers fan.

I honestly would have loved Power of the Primes, more than just enjoy Megatron’s fantastic portrayal, if Windblade made like Victorion and got murdered. I have no problem with Windblade as a whole, but her voice acting and writing in the trilogy were so putrid. Hi I’m Windblade!!!!! I’m important!!!!! But even with a lack of a Windblade murder scene, the POTP season was solid. The first 2 were definitely ass outside of Megatron though. I do like Overlord’s VA, had some real personality to him. Can’t say the same for anybody not named Jason Marnocha in all of WFC. I would say that the VAs doing Deeseus were solid, but then it just became one person lol (who was still good don’t get me wrong).

And the final dagger is that POTP is 100% free to watch and doesn't require a Netflix subscription. Why is premium content worse?

I honestly don’t know if a different studio can do better with Hasbro’s general mandates and directives. Prime and Animated may have been flawed, but man, they were significantly more entertaining than this. I don’t why I keep coming back to this thread to rant. I’m just disappointed, I guess. It’s like I’m forever linked to this suffering. Definitely dramatic, but mannnnnn why is it so hard for people to make good, licensed, and actually competent Transformers media?

Prime, Animated, and Beast Wars are shows that you could honestly recommend someone with zero franchise experience to watch, and they could possibly enjoy it. Even the Bay films are slightly enjoyable to the average viewer, much less Bumblebee, which is universally loved. This show literally has zero value to someone who doesn’t like Transformers.

I finished watching last night and the second season left me disappointed. I'll echo the sentiment that it feels too short. Siege was good, but felt rushed. Earth rise was basically piss farting around in space with a lack of purpose, and could therefore have been compressed, given we didn't actually do much. I do enjoy some aspects of the characters (Bumblebee, Red Alert) whilst others don't deliver for me. The biggest shortfall being a G1 fan, aside from the fact that rarely do they actually transform, is that it would at present appear as if after 2 "seasons", with 6 episodes to go in "Season" 3, we will now shift directly to beast wars and side step the interaction with mankind, i.e. the original G1.

    Well.....let’s start with the positives:

Bee being “the ugly one” was funny.

More mention of Megs’ time as a gladiator and his fall from grace.

Megs’ interactions with Galvatron, UM and “Ariel”.

The fight against Scorponok looked like a Saturday morning pew pew toy battle (as a good thing)

    The ending.

The rest just feels like missing a wide open layup. This would’ve worked better as the second half of Siege and is probably only called Earthrise because of some kind of Hasbro marketing fuckery to line it up with the toy line.

I was cautiously optimistic twice and let down both times. I’m gonna watch Kingdom because my love of BW trumps my disappointment of WFC so far but I don’t have my hopes up. 6 eps on top of the problems they already have with the show make it hard to be excited.

I think that why I liked it. Bee is typically depicted as small and cute. To see the Quintesson, who has several ugly faces and Bug Bite, who looks exactly like him, call him ugly gave me a chuckle.

In a show mostly devoid of humor you gotta take what you can get.

Problem is Netflix Bee is really ugly. :lol

Also I still laugh at how stupid "aim for the head! It's working!" was. Like usually the "aim for" trope is when there's a not-so-obvious weak point. The head is pretty typically everyone's weak point. :lol

    :lolol

The moment with Bug Bite trying to act like he was cool and making fun of Bee for being yellow I'm just like "Bro, you're white. You're literally ... you have NO color at all!"

God these shows are so lame, and the thing is: they didn't have to be. They have a lot of awesome material to work with and could've told a cool, enjoyable story with them, but instead it's just... they managed to make all this cool stuff so unbearably dull and lifeless.

    Okay, here goes nothing!
    Earthrise: Episode 1
-We're half a minute in and I can already see that the show still has hardly any new models.
-Also, the generic Seekers are just as easy to kill as they were in Siege.
    -Hahaha.
    Reflector Guy: Autobots?
    Elita One: Decepticons?
Why do you guys both sound so surprised by this? Especially you, Elita. Were you not expecting to see Decepticons during the raid on a Decepticon base?
-It's nice to see that the Autobots are actually doing something heroic...though I'm not sure why the Decepticons are suddenly imprisoning Reflectors.
-Megatron's still got his hilarious over-the-top supervillain lair, complete with banners and paintings of himself.
-Also, he's still...talking...really...slowly. I think it might even be worse than in Siege.
-Good job, Optimus, you killed Cybertron!
-Also, who is Megatron talking to?
-SOUNDWAVE! YAY! (His voice is better than in Siege, but it's still not good.)
-Oh, Megatron is talking to Ultra Magnus' corpse. Great. He's gone off his rocker.
-Watching Shockwave use computers with his gun arm continues to be (unintentionally?) hilarious.
-Shockwave's voice is still kind of weird. And he's suggesting cannibalism. Because of course he is. Are we sure he's not Tarantulas?
-Megatron is also totally on board with the cannibalism. In case it wasn't clear that he's evil yet, I guess.
    -Megatron...talks...so...slowly. Why?
-Shockwave said "logical!" EEEE! So far, he's the most enjoyable part of the show, just because of how obviously creepy he is.
    -Skyfire...is talking...slowly....too. So...is...Elita.
-Why is Jetfire arguing against freeing Decepticon prisoners? He WAS a Decepticon at one point! Shouldn't he have sympathy for them if anyone does?
-Elita is already proving to be a better leader than Optimus Prime was in Siege. Can't really say I'm surprised.
-Does anyone besides Shockwave ever feel happy in this show? Also, how many Autobot prisoners can there realistically be? They were already a distinct minority in Siege.
-That being said, the idea of the Decepticons turning on their own because they need someone to fight is an interesting idea that could've made for a good plot under better writing.
-Wow, Jetfire is a horribly unlikable hypocrite in this show. Elita has sympathetic motives, but she's so dour that she's not a whole lot of fun to watch either.
-Steeljaw! EEE! Also, Red Alert...is also...talking...really...slowly. This is going to get really old, really fast.
    -RIP Steeljaw. Grrr.
-But on the other hand, Starscream! YAY! Classic Starscream...100% evil, but very fun to watch.
-These Reflectors talk...slowly...too. Although their reaction to Megatron showing up is absolutely adorable....which makes me suspect that they're doomed to a painful death.
-Chromia's yet another slow talker. And the jokes still aren't as funny as I think they were intending.
    -Chromia seems pretty in-character.
-Red Alert actually transforms (albeit for like two seconds), making him the first character to do so.
-Aww, this Reflector is so adorable. I love this guy.
-LOL at Shockwave pestering Megatron to kill off more guys. I do like the hints of a possible traitorous Shockwave.
-RIP, other Reflector clones and not-Impactors.
-Elita's got a lightsaber now. That's pretty cool.
-Why are the Autobots all either more boring or more unlikable than the Decepticons?
-Aww, I love this guy. I'm gonna call him Deflector.
-RIP random Seekers. Seriously, the Seekers in this show have the lifespan of fruit flies.
-Red Alert's glee at Jetfire being able to fly is adorable. I like him now. Aww, he's so cute.
-This is almost certainly a trap.
-Aww, poor Deflector and friends. I was right...they're doomed.
-I love Starscream being Starscream. And, incidentally, I was also right about this being a trap.
-Megatron has gone from being one of the best parts of Siege to being one of the worst parts of Earthrise. Now he just comes across as a dour hypocrite.
-Shockwave doesn't come across so much as lacking in emotions as being gleefully amoral. Which makes it weird for him to then claim that he's deleted his emotions. Also, WE GET IT, EARTHRISE...Shockwave likes logic!
-Megatron is ludicrously obsessed with Optimus Prime.
-Starscream continues to be Starscream. It's still great.
-Yes, Megatron. Elita One should've been the leader of the Autobots. Optimus is an idiot.
-Oh, no. We're back to "your war" again. I thought we'd gotten that out of our systems in Siege.
    -Shut up, you stupid hypocrite.
-Deflector! NOO! Wow, this is really messed up.
-If Megatron was gleefully evil the way Starscream and Shockwave are, he'd be a good villain. As he is, he's just endlessly frustrating.
-Look, it's not-Wheeljack and the Coneheads! And Doubledealer with his not-particularly toy-accurate head! It would seem that the mercenaries have arrived.

    Episode 2!
-Hey, it's the Ark! And bad CGI!
-The Coneheads' coneheads look even more ridiculous than usual.
    -There's Bug Bite.
-Optimus Prime, Arcee, and Bumblebee have all been shown on board the Ark.
-I suspect that Doubledealer is working for the Quintessons. Doubledealer appears to be a pretty standard mercenary-type so far.
-Why does the Quintesson appear to have one, and only one, female voice?
-Doubledealer's more accurate than he realizes about the lack of heroes on the Ark...
    -Oh, no. Not Megatron again....
    -"Oops." I love Starscream.
-Elita, just punch Buckethead in the face already. He's really annoying (albeit not entirely wrong about Optimus Prime).
    -Why...do...they both...talk...so...slowly?
-Of course she disagreed with Prime's actions! Prime is stupid in this show!
-Elita's coming across really well in this debate. It's terrific. Megatron, on the other hand, is just pretentious.
-Project Nemesis is a really big spaceship.
-Yep, Megatron's lost it. He's talking to corpses.
    -Hey, Bumblebee's awake!
    -Charr! EEE!
-Doubledealer's been pretty fun to watch so far.
-"The ugly one"? Except for color, Bumblebee and Bug Bite look the same!
-Apparently Thrust and not-Wheeljack are totally cool with killing Bug Bite.
-The "We sold it [honor among thieves] to the highest bidder" is actually a pretty good (and amusing line).
-Oh, no. Optimus Prime is awake. And...talking....really....slowly. At least he's marginally more intelligent this time.
-Starscream is amazing. He's perfectly in-character.
    -Jetfire is also frustrating.
-Doubledealer is fun, if basic; Optimus is....talking....really...slowly.
    -Oh, look, it's generic-voice Ironhide!
-Credit where credit is due...I did like the nod to the 1986 movie with the rotating/laughing Quintesson faces.
    -Prowl's here, too.
-No, Ironhide. This Prime cannot handle himself.
    -The Quintesson (Deseus)...talks...really...slowly...too.
-Apparently, Earthrise is taking hints from the G1 cartoon's backstory in which the Quintessons created and enslaved the Cybertronians...with the added twist that one of the Quintessons (at least allegedly) helped the Cybertronians overthrow and drive off the other Quintessons.
-And now the Quintesson is arguing with himself. I can see why Doubledealer is frustrated with him. (Her? Whatever.) It's really disorienting, and kind of cool. Unlike Optimus' slow-talking, I might add.
-Jetfire, stop being a jerk to Red Alert.
-Hey, a reference to Crystal City. Any hopes of us getting to see the Constructicons? (I already know the answer is 'no', but I can dream).
-Keep up that positive thinking, Arcee.
-'That sound' is really annoying, that's what.
-Hey! It's Sideswipe! And I think Hound?
-Why is the Quintesson cutting off some of its own faces? The Quintessons' whole thing is that they're supposed to have five faces!
-Is Megatron in love with Elita or something? Why is he suddenly so obsessed with her?
-Okay, it REALLY sounds like Megatron is in love with Elita...he calls her Ariel (nice reference) and tells her that Prime took her for granted (which admittedly, Prime did) and everything! That's...kind of creepy, actually.
    -Oh, hey there, Barricade.
-And now Elita sounds like she's in love with him. What in the world is going on?
-Jetfire is still annoying...but he has a point about Megatron. As much as I appreciate the fact that Elita is being a better Optimus than Optimus (for the most part), Megatron is clearly really, really evil.
-Hey, it's the blue Reflector guy from earlier! Saving him paid off! Why are my two favorite characters so far both Reflectors? I normally could care less about Reflectors!
-As much as I like Doubledealer, he's also prone...to...slow...talking.
-Deseus isn't particularly interesting anymore, but it's still a better villain than Megatron.
-More generic Seekers. I wonder how long it'll be before they're all dead.
-Why do none of the Transformers transform?
-Flywheels? He's...helping the Autobots? Why are all the low-ranking Decepticons suddenly so personable and likable? And if they can make them likable, why can't they make the Autobots likable?
-Shockwave just wants to kill off all the other Decepticons, doesn't he?
    -Soundwave! EEE!
-Why does everyone think Bumblebee is so ugly? And why does Deseus have Ratchet clones working for him instead of Allicons or Sharkticons or something?
-Hey, it's Wheeljack and Mirage and Hound! And they're actually using their shoulder rockets!
-I guess Deseus shouldn't have doublecrossed the mercenaries. I like Doubledealer in this show. He's a lot of fun.
-"Autobots, transform and roll out!" Most of the Autobots proceed to run away instead.
-Optimus...is still...talking...slowly. And he still doesn't sound like Peter Cullen, even though that was clearly the intent.
-Hey, look! It's Megatron and Shockwave and Soundwave and Starscream! It's cool to see them standing together...they just make for a good visual.
-LOL at Shockwave tapping his tablet with his gun arm.
-Surprise! The Nemesis is a spaceship...just like anyone who's seen G1 (or Prime) knew all along!
-Megatron is a lot more fun when he stops pretending to be noble...never mind, he's going right back to being a hypocrite. He's still got a good speechwriter.
    -EEE! Starscream said "mighty Megatron!"
-Is that the last we'll see of the Quintessons? If so, it seems pretty pointless for them to have been included.
