By far the easiest custom I'll ever do, and also stretching the definition of "custom" by a mile. All I really did was take my Netflix Soundwave and the newly released Legacy Soundwave, took off their arms and blasters, and then just swapped them around!

The arms are on simple mushroom joints so its an easy swap, and the molding is identical on both figures so it doesn't impede on or hinder transformation for either of the Soundwaves in any way! 20220907_134310.jpg 20220907_134550.jpg

You wouldn't think that red accents would make such a massive difference, but it really does complete the look for Netflix Soundwave! All I'm thinking of doing at this point is attempting to remove the landing gear and shaving down the tabs on his forearms for a cleaner look, then he'd be just about perfect.

And I have to say, I quite like the opposite as well: Legacy Soundwave with the plain forearms and guns actually looks pretty decent! I thought the red accents on him clashed with his yellow eyes and the golden highlights on his chest and legs, so I think this makes him look cleaner and more cohesive than before. It's really a win-win for me! :D

...not gonna lie, I'm tempted to do this myself just to mitigate some of the yellowing on mine.

Well then, I ended up doing just that. It's not the smoothest possible result, probably gonna try to track down some paint to cover up the scuffs that sanding didn't smooth out, but it really does make the silhouette a lot nicer!

Cool mod! I’d probably do this if I could find Netflix Soundwave anywhere near a reasonable price lol

a heat gun or a hair dryer can get rid of stress marks and smooth out the scuffs a bit. Just be careful not to warp the plastic

Couldn't you have just painted red lines on Netflix SW?

I probably could have, but my painting skills are quite poor, the end result would've most likely looked shaky, I am rather lazy and whatever solution I could've come up with wouldn't last nearly as long as what Hasbro does so I went with the path of least resistance :p

I wanted to get the Siege mold anyway so for me this was a win-win solution

I've read the blue plastic used for the Legacy reissue of Siege Soundwave is slightly darker than the blue plastic used for the Siege and Netflix figures, doesn't really look like it from these photos though.

Mine are identical Legacy/Netflix. Siege is a bit off (lighter) from both.

I did the same parts swaps with mine too. As for the part you shaved, try some fine sand paper to smooth up the roughness.
