Gun buyback for kids? It . i disagree with the man's mentality (marked in BOLD) that instilling fear in a person is the best way to prepare them for life. Fear is for the ignorant and uneducated. These men should teach firearm safety with the Nerf weapons. Safely demonstrate the consequences of not handling or treating a weapon with respect. Inform, not frighten. i don't, my family does not, even the children in my family do not fear a firearm nearly as much as an idiot holding a weapon. Educate, then let the knowledge guide these kids. if a kid doesn't want a gun or to be around them, they won't bother with them. i like guns myself, but i don't really own any. but i chose that. i wasn't "bullied" into a state of fear. and hell, what "intelligent" kid will sacrifice a $40 Nerf Gatling Gun for a $2 piece of pizza and school supplies? I am kinda tired of the word "educate" being used to alleviate the world's fears, but this seems to be one case where people don't want to remove that fear.
This is one of the stupidest things I ever heard. I had G1 Megatron, did that make me rob a bank? To this guy I say Eat shit and live
Fuck, every time I real bullshit like this, I just wanna throw up into my own asshole for the sake of having something other than my own to shit to drop on these people in the event that I got to meet them in real life. Oh, and if they wanna help their kids understand the difference between holding a toy and a real gun, there's something called a shooting range. When they're old enough, this can be great because it'll give them 1st hand knowledge about how how guns aren't toys. Then there's always movies like Boyz In The Hood, which I firmly believe that everyone should see, regardless of their race or lifestyle.
I'm not a prude or ultra liberal or anything, but I whole-heartedly approve of this. and here's why: I live on a real quiet dead-end street in the 'burbs, with an elementary school like two blocks away. all summer, the neighborhood kids did nothing but run around the neighborhood shooting each other with nerf guns and water guns. there was like a horde of them, all with their toy guns--it was like a militia of kids. there's something unnerving about always seeing like a half dozen young boys spend their ENTIRE summer outside shooting each other with one thing or another. now granted, I didn't see what they were doing while they were inside. hell, they could've been knitting or having tea parties with elmo or something. but it's the kind of thing that just makes you raise your eyebrow for a minute. I agree that most people can do that separation of fantasy and reality, but the law of averages seems like it wants to sneak its ugly little head in there, and affect one of those kids in the exact way you don't want it to.
When I was a kid, I played with cap guns (snap caps), water guns, and Nerf guns. Hasn't made me or my buddies gun weilding criminals in any way. Had epic battles in the backyard and have fond memories of that. Effing wimps.
And do you really think that will lead ANY of them to get a gun for the sake of shooting someone?? Wow blame toy guns for violence. That's a first. Why not blame TV, movies, or even books. I would say video games but they already do that, and I guess toys guns are next to be targeted given video games are not going away. It is all about parenting and sad to say most people today seem to think it is the teacher's job to raise their kids. More parents should get off their duffs and teach children fact from fiction and reality from fantasy. Actually teach them moral values. Then you would see a decrease in violence.
THEY ARE DAMN KIDS!!!! i spend my entire childhood playing with toy guns, toy swords, and all kinds of weapons and shit. You don't see me taking my encore megatron outside and going to rob a bank do you? I agree with the idea of showing gun safety with nerf guns, that would be a GREAT program. Kids love nerf guns, hell, ask any guy and he will probably tell you nerf guns are effin awesome. People are stupid, seriously, this is a STUPID idea what's next? we're gonna ban little jimmy from playing with his dingaling because he might shoot his eye out? George Carlin was right, what the hell is wrong with people
of my little brother has a whole nerf arsenal at his disposal, so i never went and bought my own, but yeah, cause of this crap like this, out of spite i'm picking me up at least a maverick
I'm fine with kids having NERF guns. The one thing I'm kinda iffy on is little kids with BB and Airsoft guns. I work in a Sporting Goods department and some of those things look fairly real. Plus those things can put out an eye. This idea is just stupid. As it was said just teach them right from wrong. Don't blame the gun. Blame the parents and the kids for inappropriate behavior.
I feel like organizing a large group of 6-12 year old protesters to picket his place and decry his efforts as a means to undermine the Second Amendment via use of bribery.
