Doesn't this basically turn Nerf into paintball? The blaster itself looks decently cool (especially with a collapsible stock and removable barre)... but I really don't like these large external paintball-style hoppers. Takes away from the sleekness of the blaster. Also hope that the gel rounds are truly non-toxic and biodegradable.

So I ended up buying one more old blaster, and decided to keep a couple of my old ones too. 6) RIVAL Takedown Found this one MISB listed on local classifieds for $15CAD. I love the short shotgun formfactor and this one is a lot of fun to plink around the house. It's like a Kronos, but with a different formfactor; I might actually like the Takedown more than the Kronos. And ended up deciding to keep a couple more of my old ones: 7) RIVAL Zeus I actually really like the look/feel of this blaster, plus I found a set of the clips+magazine+balls (MISB) being liquidated at a local department store for a few bucks (who would've thought they'd still have retail product from ~2015 around), so I got that just to arm it up some more. 8) N-Strike Vulcan Seen these listed on local classifieds for virtually nothing, so decided to keep mine instead. It just makes a great conversation piece with it sitting in the room to non-Nerf people. And I'm pretty sure I'm done with Nerf in the short term.
Got the Aliens Pulse Rifle for my daughter today. Pretty great gun hampered by the lack of an off-switch.
I had it POd but ended up canceling since a ton of stuff came early. Hopefully there's a sale or something down the line.
I keep seeing it sold out, but I'm imagining that GameStop will have some for the holidays. The pulse rifle sound effect is pretty good, and it fires quite fast. Also adore that counter on the side, too. Shotgun is good, but not as powerful as the rifle. Has a good sound effect as well. It takes C-batteries, which apparently are becoming scarce. Makes the lack of an off-switch even more frustrating. At least there's room in the case for them.
This Nerf modder I follow is starting his mod on the Aliens blaster. Should be an interesting project. I think at the very least I may beef up the "grenade" launcher. Seems easy enough to do. Maybe some day down the road I think I'll just a LiPo battery, but not crank up the voltage too much. I don't want to burn out anything. I would want to be sure the various circuit boards could handle a higher voltage. And, wouldn't want to burn out the stock motors pre-maturely.
Ended up buying a Hyper Rush-40 from Amazon this week (regular in-store retail was ~$40-44CAD, Amazon usually had it for ~$30-33CAD, but had a sale down to $17CAD). It's... ok, I guess. I like the design/look, but not the craziest about the colors. I'm also not entirely convinced on the Hyper rounds either (I mostly prefer the larger foam Rival rounds), but a 40-round-capacity springer pistol is pretty good (and hilarious). Funny that I'm keeping only 4 Nerf pistols, and all 4 of them use different ammo types: Maverick (standard darts), Kronos (Rival balls), Ultra 2 (Ultra darts), Hyper Rush-40 (Hyper balls).
OK, the shop I Pre-ordered my Nerf Pulse Rifle with has again delayed the release because their supplier says it's delayed. FOMO struck and I ordered from another store that seemed to have it in stock and it has been delivered Saturday. I wasn't home and have to fetch it tomorrow. My pre-order says 31.01.2022. I'm currently thinking of keeping the pre-order and selling it later on ebay. I used some coupons on that order, so I might turn a little profit then. But I still wonder if they are even getting stock, when these things are limited and everyone and their neighbor already has it. BTW. This is my collection. Painted the wall mount recently with the colors I had left over from my Transformers customs. The dragon looks awesome under black light:
Just when I decided yesterday, that I would keep the second Pulse Rifle (my first preorder from October 2021), I got news that they don't get their stock. Just as I suspected. Glad I ordered a second one before. Found another shop which claims to get stock on January 13. I will see if I can get a second one, because I thought yesterday, that I would like to repaint the second one more or less movie accurate. And when I have friends over, two people could use the awesome gun. But I'll wait to see if the order is fulfilled before I order the colors. I might even try to paint wear, to make it look more real, but I'll need to watch some tutorials first on how to do that.
Recently got my second Pulse Rifle. Anyone got experience in removing the solvent weld glued orange ring from Nerf guns? I saw 2 variants, one involving a pan and boiling or simmering water, the other had additionally ice water to switch between. I found several places through Google where people promoted this method. All videos that I saw, where people removed the orange ring just with force, broke it. So that method is out, but boiling water also sounds dangerous. I fear I might end up warping something. Does anyone by chance know another method?
It depends on where the weld is. You're right that applied heat risks damaging the shell. I've had that happen. What I've honestly found to overall be best is to use a razor/x-acto knife to split the welded part along the shell seam. You end up with one piece cut into two, that's only visible upon very close inspection, and zero damage is done to the blaster.
Thanks, I might consider that. I was thinking of painting the ring the same color I wanted to paint the barrel in, but maybe painting it then the same as the rest of the shell is easier, when I don't have to fear breaking or warping anything.
So, yeah, Destiny's Gjallarhorn nerf edition arrived! It is absolutely massive. For the record, I'm 6'4 so you can see how big she is while I'm holding her. Weighty too. Like, there's some serious heft and that's before batteries.
