So for my speech class, we're supposed to give a 7-10 minute informative speech. We are allowed to do a "History of" type of speech so I thought, Hey! why not do a speech on Transformers! Right now, the only roadblock that I'm facing is that we need five sources, two of which have to be a non-internet source. I'm looking to get a copy of the Transformers Vault book, but I still need at least one more. If someone could point me in the right direction, that would be great!
If your library has this it would be very useful: Toy Wars: The Epic Struggle Between G.I. Joe, Barbie, and the Companies That Make Them: G. Wayne Miller: 9780812929843: Books - Amazon.ca If you're feeling shady, you could cite Hasbro's annual reports Annual Reports and Proxies - Hasbro, Inc. And you might see if your library has access to this journal article: “We Can Rebuild Him!”: The essentialisation of the human/cyborg interface in the twenty-first century, or whatever happened to The Six Million Dollar Man? (I used springerlink because it's funny) And this covers TF history as well The Business of Media Distribution
Transformers: The Ultimate Guide (although not perfect by any means) would work if you are citing fictional elements from the franchise.
While not usually the case, in this instance, Wikipedia is your friend. Don't use it to get information from, and don't quote directly from it, but instead go down to the references section. There you'll find a list of where all the cited information originated, and if you're lucky, there will be books, newspaper, or magazine articles. There will either be links to the original sources, or info you can take to your library to look up. For example, I found a link to the below newspaper article which talks about killing off and bringing back Optimus Prime. It's a good read and could probably help you. Check it out: Hasbro Can't Toy with Optimus Prime Good luck, and post your speech when you finish it!
