So a few years back I went and became a Reverend online though the ULC. I never thought I'd actually use it for anything when I signed up. Well I was wrong and very soon I will be officiating a wedding ceremony. I'm having a hard time finding a basic ceremony to work from though. I've searched online but have not really found anything. I've seen posts in the past regarding other board members who have been Ordained online and was hoping one of you might have some suggestions. The couple are not looking for anything fancy or too formal, If they were I doubt they'd have me performing their wedding. So any links/advice you may have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
Did you pay the extra money to officiate at weddings? The free ordainment doesn't cover that. If your friends are having a ULC minister, they probably don't care if the ceremony is by rote. Just improvise!
Universal Life Church. And I think one of the Admins here had a ULC wedding, officiated by another poster...I think. Or it mighta been a FP employee, not sure. Anyways, maybe they could help you out.
Joe Moore had Alvarez perform his wedding as a ULC minister. I think later he sweated possible legality questions that came into play, but I don't recall anything coming from it.
I would think that there would be a generic wedding script on the internet *SOMEWHERE*... I wouldn't think it would be very hard. And as long as you guys have the paperwork done ahead of time there shouldn't be any issues... I mean it is your signature in the back room that makes it official not the ceremony. That is pretty cool that you are doing that... Be sure to tell us how it turns out.
I did that ULC thing, I don't see how them giving me a piece of paper to print out with my name on it makes me a reverend, but whatev.
As Jux said (where the hell you been man?) my wife and I were married by Rik Alvarez. In PA, there are some legal wrangling going on about who is fit to perform weddings as a judges ruling may have invalidated not only ULC based weddings, but weddings performed by various other organizations. Though, from the last publicized version of it, the Judge looked to be clearly in the wrong, and his ruling seems likely to be overturned. But this only affects PA residents.
Ok, I found a few basic scripts to work off of online. I just had to word my searches differently. I have done quite a bit of research on Michigan laws to make sure it was on the up and up. As crazy as it seems (to me anyways), I seem legal to perform their wedding. Although I did find out that if you just printed an online copy of the ordained certificate you are not an official reverend of ULC. You need to request a signed copy from the church to be mailed to you for it to be valid. My copy came in the mail a few days ago so I think I'm all set.
Wuv... twooo wuv... I'm an ordained minister of the ULC, and I've dodged three bullets as far as officiating weddings go due to pre-marital shennanigans breaking them up, but I fear I wont be able to do it for long. Too many of my friends are non-religious and know that I'm a minister. Anyhoo. Maybe this can help? http://www.budgetweddings.info/wedding-vow-Ceremony-literary-wedding-script.html
Thanks for the link. Every bit helps. I really never planned on anyone asking me to officiate their wedding. Most of my friends know better.
