My son is almost 3 and took my G1 optimus and loves playing with it. He has been eyeballing a misb collection of MP and 3ps and I was wondering if Hasbro has a transforming tow or fire truck thats not too complicated. He has mastered the g1 prime, even storing or putting in his hands.

Any ideas, Id like Santa to bring him one or two? The misb collection is his but not at this age :) . He points to each box and says robot change car, robot change plane, robot change cranetruck. its cool but I feel bad he cant play with them so I think he needs a starter tf that if by chance he breaks it, neither one of us will be too sad.

Hmm, well, Grapple is a Sort of Tow Truck, and Inferno is a firetruck. The modern version (Universe) will be tricky to transformers for a duffer his age, but the G1 versions should be easy enough.

    Ebay:
Rescue Bots are simple enough and are for ages 3-7.

The Classics Inferno mold is also pretty simple. You have to be patient to find a good price on Inferno or Grapple but I see the Hot Spot version going for normal prices on ebay.

EDIT: So you are saying you collect MPs and 3Ps and other things but you've never once seen Rescuebots?

Ive heard of the toon but is this a current toy I can find somewhere? I like the G1 toys but they arent cheap.

That rescue bot seems a little to basic. hoping for something else.

How about DOTM Leader Sentinel Prime...j/k.

Actually, that tow truck Rescue Bot looks like fun. If you are at the store with your son perhaps let him see it and see if he likes it...it's for his age group. I agree with the above people, you can probly get a TRU reissue Inferno on Ebay for about 30-40 bucks...

Nobody mentions Hoist at all. Look up Generations Hoist. It isn't on shelves, but shouldn't be THAT bad on ebay. And for fire trucks the Inferno mold from the Universe line is a great starting point if you can find one cheap, and Hot Spot from Combiner Wars also does the job.

Energon Inferno (firetruck) and Roadblock (crane) are mold-mates and have the powerlinx thing going on if you want a suggestion from an older line.

I feel like I should mention that Roadblock seems much more expensive on the secondary market than Inferno.

Nice thing about rescue bots is that while they are simple, the transformation is very fast and easy for a toddler to do. My son (4 yr. old) loves his and during playtime they are transforming about a zillion times.

How about Movie Longarm? Pretty simple and unique transformation or you could hunt down its repaint as Hoist.

Movie 2007 Longarm and his Hoist are great toys that go for chump change on Ebay.

It's aimed exactly at your son's age. The others may not be basic enough. I remember when my nephews were that age, they loved playing with the older kids toys, but they couldn't transform them without help and often pulled them apart. They ended up being just cars most of the time.

RescueBots is not something I have any interest in personally, but it's what I would buy for a 3 year old today.

Your kid is 3 man. The rescuebots are made for him. He's not going to be transforming combiner wars figures at that age.

He'll be transforming them from robot mode into scrap pieces mode. I know what it's like to be overly-anxious for kids in your family to be old enough to appreciate real Transformers, but you have to be patient and realistic.

He has my G1 prime in perfect order. I'm only concerned with the amount of steps and nothing with tabbing.
